I Felix Sayer of Lane House in Bishopdale in
the parish of Aysgarth and North Riding of Yorkshire Farmer do make
and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form
following that is to say. First I drect that all my just debts and
funeral expenses be padi by my executor hereinafter named. Also I
give and devise to my dear wife jane Sayer my dwelling house with
the buildings and appurtenances near thereunto belonging…..fields
called Fryer Garth and Caxton (Coaton?) Garth and my allotment on
the moor (?)… in the township of Carperby and North Riding of
Yorkshire to hold to her my said dear wife during the term of her
natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the
same and every part thereof to my son Felix Sayer to hold to him my
said son his ……. And assigns forever Charged and chargeable …….the
payment of the following legacies or sums of money that is to say
With the payment of one hundred and fifty pounds to my son James
Sayer to be paid by my Executor at the end of thirteen months next
after my wife's decease with the payments of one hundred and fifty
pounds to my son John Sayer to be paid by my Executor at the end of
thirteen months next after my wife's decease With the payment of the
sum of five pounds each to my three grandchildren that is to say
Richard Johnson Jane Johnson and Peggy Johnson children of George
Johnson and Peggy Johnson to be paid by my Executor to such of them
as shall have attained the age of twenty one years at the end of
twelve months next after my wife's decease and to be paid by my
Executor to such of them as shall not there have attained that age
when they shall respectively have attained the age of twenty one
years and if either of my said sons James Sayer or John Sayer or
any of my said three grand children Richard Johnson Jane Johnson and
Peggy Johnson happen to die before they become entitled to receive
their respective legacies it is my mind and will that the portion of
him her or them so dying as aforesaid shall go to their respective
children equally amongst them share and share alike and if any of
them die without issue then the portion of such shall go to the
legal representative. Also I give and bequeath to my said dear wife
Jane Sayer the sum of twenty pounds a year to be paid by my Executor
by equal half yearly payments the first payment to be at the end of
six months next after my decease. Also I give and bequeath to my
said dear wife all my household furniture beds and bedding to be
disposed of by her as she may think proper.
Also I give and bequeath unto my son Felix
Sayer all my stock of cattle and all my milking vessels Dairy
utensils and husbandry gear and all the rest residue and remainder
of my goods chattels effects and personal property whatsoever and
wheresoever. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my
said son Felix Sayer sole Executor of this my last will and
testament. In witness thereof I have set my hand and seal this
fifteen day of January one thousand eight hundred and twenty eight.

Probate of the will of Felix Sayer of
Bishopdale dated 27th September 1831:
On which day personnally appeared before me
Felix Sayer of Lane House in the parish of Aysgarth in the County of
York Farmer the Executor within married and was sworn duly to
administer the Goods Chattels and Credits of the within named
Testator and that they did not at the time of his decease according
to the best of his knowledge and belief amount to the sum of two
hundred pounds within the Archdeaconry of Richmond
John Whaley
Surrogate.
