The Will of Ann Sayer

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Ann Sayer of Leeds in the County of York Widow as follows in the first part I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid by my Executors hereinafter named. I then give and bequeath unto my son James Sayer of Hampstead Ten pounds. I then give and bequeath unto my son John Sayer of Sheffield Ten pounds. I then give and bequeath unto my grandchildren James Sayer and Margaret Sayer son and daughter of my aforesaid son James Sayer Ten pounds each. I then give and bequeath unto my grandchildren Joseph Hodkin Sayer, Jane Sayer, Louisa Sayer, Margaret Sayer, Henry Sayer and Frederick Sayer the six youngest sons and daughters of my aforesaid son John Sayer Ten pounds each. I then give and bequeath unto my son-in-law William Kettlewell of Leeds husband of my late daughter Margaret Kettlewell Ten pounds. All the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever shall be divided into three equal parts. I then give and bequeath one such third part to my granddaughter Margaret Ann Hay daughter of my daughter Jane Hay of Leeds Widow. I also give and bequeath to my grandson John Hay son of my aforesaid daughter Jane Hay another such aforesaid third part I then give and bequeath to my grandson William Kettlewell son of my aforesaid daughter Margaret Kettlewell the remaining part of the aforesaid three parts. Provided always and it is my Will that my aforesaid grandchildren Margaret Ann Hay, John Hay and William Kettlewell shall pay the interest arising therefrom at the rate of five per cent per annum to my aforesaid daughter Jane Hay for her use and benefit for the whole term of her life. It is further my Will that all the aforesaid parties be put in possession of their portion herein named of my estate and effects within the space of twelve months after my decease. And I do hereby appoint my son the said John Sayer and my son-in-law the said William Kettlewell joint Executors of this my Will. And hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore made do declare this to be my last Will and Testament only. In witness whereof I the said Testatrix have hereunto set my hand this eleventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
