This is the last Will and Testament of me
Sarah Sawyer Widow of John Sawyer late of Hopwood Lodge of the
Parish of White Waltham in the County of Berks Esquire deceased
I direct all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses
to be paid with all convenient speed after my decease I give to
my Grandson Charles Sawyer Lieutenant in Her Majesty’s Third
Regiment of Infantry (or Buffs) the legacy or sum of five
hundred pounds and to my Grandson Denniscombe Herbert Sawyer the
eldest child of my son Herbert Sawyer a like legacy or sum of
five hundred pounds And I direct that the said last mentioned
legacy be paid to or retained by the said Herbert Sawyer and
invested and accumulated by him as he shall think proper with
full power and authority to apply the same and any accumulations
thereof and the dividends and interest thereof and any
accumulations thereof for the maintenance education and
advancement of the said Denniscombe Herbert Sawyer during his
minority as his ffather the said Herbert Sawyer may think proper
And as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Estate and
Effects of what kind soever and wheresoever and whether in
possession reversion remainder or expectancy I give devise and
bequeath the same unto and to the use of my said son Herbert
Sawyer his heirs executors administrators and assigns according
to the respective natures and qualities of such estate and
effects for his and their own absolute use and benefit And I
make this devise and bequest to him because he is not so well
provided for as my eldest Son Charles Sawyer and not from any
want of equal affection for him as for my said Son Herbert
Sawyer And I appoint said Son Herbert Sawyer to be the sole
Executor of this my Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto set
my hand this seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord
