In the name of God Amen I William Saire of
South Cowton being sick in body bu of good and perfect memory thanks
be to God Almighty do make this my last will and testament the
eighth day of April 1683 in manner and form as follows.
First I bequeath my soul into the hands of God
my creator and Jesus Christ my redeemer by whose ** blood I hope to
hand and *** of all my sins. And my body to be buried in the
churchyard of South Cowton at *******
First I give to my oldest daughter Margrett
one hundred pounds, secondly I give to my second daughter Isabell
one hundred pounds thirdly I give to my son James one hundred and **
pounds fourthly I give to my oldest son William all the rest
of my goods moveable and immoveable my debts
and funeral expenses discharged ******************* following.
I give to my son (?) daughters Margaret and
Isabel all my household goods equally to be divided betwixt them **
I give Jane Fowiske (?) forty shillings, ** to Mary Jolly (?) one
hog and a lamb to Elizabeth and Dorothy Williamson daughters of
James Williamson ** pence *** to Mary Dent (?) one shilling, Michael
Snowdenone shilling, to Ann Snowdon one shilling, and further if it
happen that any of my children shall ** my will ***** minors shall
have if equally divided amongst them. And lastly I make *** of
Thomas Armstead and
James Williamson ** and ** and John Jolly
trustee to take ca*** my will be performed and likewise tutors for
my children. In witness to this my last will I set my hand and seal
this day and year above written.

is that my brother(?) shall have ** charg*** by my Executor
