The Will of Robert Rothwell

 

In the Name of God Amen the twenty fifth day of January in the year of  ye Lord God according to the computation of the Crurte? of England One thousand six hundred Ninety and three I Robert Rothwell of Scarisbrick in the county of Lancre yeond being visited with sickness but yet of sound and pfect memory praised be God for the same therefore doe make this my last will and Testament in manner & forme following (vidz)

first and principally I give and bequeath my soule to Almighty God by whose bitter death and passion I stedfastly believe to be saved and my body to be Decently buried at or? in the parish Church of Ormskirke in full hope of a joyfull resurrection

And as for my worldy goods wherewith it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me Itt is my will and mind that the same be disposed ou? as following

First itt is my will and mind that my debts funeral expenses and Probate of this my will be first satisfied and discharged out of my whole goods that being done Itt is my will and mind and I doe hereby give and bequeath unto Mary Worthington the sume of five pounds

Item I give and bequeath unto William Barton the sume of foure pounds

Item I give unto Richard Barton forty shillings

Item I give unto Grace Barton twenty shillings

Item I give unto my brother James Rothwell the sum of five pounds.

Item I give unto Roger Bostocke of Ormskirke Gent the sume of five shillings to buy him a paire of gloves

Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Hawett of Ormskirke aforesaid Gent the sume of twelve pounds

Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Wareing of Scarisbrick the sume of five pounds

Item I give unto William Wareing his sone the sume of forty shillings

And the remainder of all my goods rattles? chattles and personal Estate whatsoever the same be itt is my will and mind that after all my Debts Legacies and funeral expenses and the Probate of this my will (be sold and) the moneys whereupon I doe hereby give and bequeath one halfe thereof unto ye Poor of Scarisbrick at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named and the other halfe thereof Itt is my will and mind and I doe hereby give and bequeath the same unto my said brother James Rothwell

And Lastly I doe hereby nominate ordaine and make the said Richard Wareing Executor of this my last will and testament hopeing he will see the same performed according to my trust in him reposed

In witness whereof I have hereunton sett my hand and seale and Published this to be my last will and testament the day and year first above written
