The Will of Lydia Rose
I Lydia
Rose of the Town of Padstow in
the County of Cornwall Widow do
declare this to be my last Will
and Testament I give and
bequeath the sum of one hundred
pounds Three per Cent in
Consolidated Stock Annuities
unto my Nephew Samuel Borlase of
Castle Hornick in the said
County Esquire and the Reverend
William Borlase of Lanteglos by
Camelford Clerk their executors
administrators and assigns upon
Trust to pay the interest and
dividends thereof unto my Sister
Elizabeth Borlase and her
assigns during her life And I
declare that her receipt shall
be a sufficient discharge for
the same And immediately after
her decease Upon Trust to assign
the said sum of one hundred
pounds Three per Cent in
Consolidated Stock Annuities
unto my Niece Mary Jane Borlase
(Daughter of my late Brother
John Borlase) I also give to my
said Sister the sum of one
hundred pounds Three per Cent in
Consolidated Stock Annuities for
her absolute benefit I give to
my Nieces Ann Mould also a
daughter of my late Brother John
Borlase and the said Mary Jane
Borlase the sum of one hundred
pounds Three per Cent in
Consolidated Stock Annuities to
be equally divided between them
I give my gold watch chain and
seals to my said Niece Mary Jane
Borlase I give my large silver
salver or waiter or such other
article of plate as he may
choose to Mr Thurston Collins of
Saint Columb Gentleman and all
the remainder of my plate I give
to my said Nieces Ann Mould and
Mary Jane Borlase to be equally
divided between them And I give
and bequeath the following
pecuniary legacies namely To
Mary Borlase Widow of my late
Brother John Borlase the sum of
fifty pounds of lawful British
money To my said Nephew Samuel
Borlase the like sum of fifty
pounds of like lawful money In
Trust for and to be divided
among his children To my Nephew
John Borlase Son of my late
Brother John Borlase the like
sum of fifty pounds of like
lawful money To Mrs Mason Wife
of Mr Mason Collector of Customs
Padstow To Miss Constance
Rawlings of Padstow aforesaid
Spinster To Miss Rebecca Thomas
of the Post Office Truro To the
Reverend Richard Tyacke Vicar of
Padstow and to Ann Hearn Widow
late of Padstow aforesaid the
sum of ten pounds each of like
lawful money To Elizabeth Rose
of the same place Widow of the
late Thomas Rose twenty pounds
of like lawful money To Mr
Thurston Collins of Saint Columb
the sum of seventy pounds of
like lawful money for the
trouble he has taken about my
affairs To my Servant Caroline
Angove the sum of fifty pounds
of like lawful money and my
wearing apparel for her
attention to me And I direct the
said several legacies to be paid
within six months after my
decease And I declare that no
deduction shall be made from the
legacy given to my said Servant
for legacy duty And to the poor
of the said Town of Padstow the
sum of ten pounds of like lawful
money to be distributed amongst
them the Christmas Day after my
decease by the Clergyman of the
Parish of Padstow in such manner
as he in his discretion shall
think fit I give and bequeath
all the Residue and Remainder of
my money goods chattels Personal
Estate and Effects whatsoever
which shall remain after payment
of my debts funeral and
testamentary expenses and
legacies unto my three Nephews
Samuel Borlase John Borlase and
William Borlase Sons of my late
Brother John Borlase their
executors administrators and
assigns And I appoint the said
Samuel Borlase and John Borlase
Executors of this my last Will
and Testament In Witness whereof
I the said Lydia Rose the
testatrix have hereunto set my
hand and seal (that is to say)
my hand to the first and
preceding sheet and my hand and
seal to the second and last
sheet this twenty ninth day of
October one thousand eight
hundred and forty two Lydia Rose
