God Amen I Henry Rix of Mellis in
the County of Suffolk Yeoman being
of sound & disposing mind & memory
praised be God for the same hereby
revoking & making void all former &
other wills & testaments by me at
any time heretofore made do make
publish & declare this to be my last
will & Testament in manner & form
following that is to say ffirst I do
hereby nominate constitute & appoint
my good friend ffrancis Murrel of
Brome in the said County of Suffolk
Yeoman & my Brother Robert Rix of
the Parish of St Andrews in the City
& County of Norwich Executors of
this my will And I do hereby
authorize & empower direct & appoint
them my said Exors or Admors to
place out at Interest all my ready
money & call in my other monies that
I shall or may leave at the time of
my decease & which shall be then out
at Interest provided that the said
monies are not now placed out on
such Security or Securities as they
my said Exors or the Survivor of
them shall approve of & to replace
the said monies out again at
Interest on some good real Security
or Securities at their discretion as
soon as conveniently can be after my
decease & to continue the said
monies out at Interest for & during
the term of the natural life of
Sarah my beloved wife & to pay the
Interest or proceeds thereof as the
same shall come into their hands
from time to time unto the said
Sarah my Wife & her Assigns for &
during the term of her natural life
as aforesaid & for her own sole
proper use benefit & disposal And I
do give & bequeath the same to her
my said Wife accordingly she my said
Wife giving to them my Exors proper
receipts from time to time for the
said Interest money when thereunto
.........And I do hereby order &
direct authorise & empower them my
said Exors or the Survivor of them
his Exors or Admors to put off the
ffarm I now occupy in Mellis
aforesaid for the term of the lease
I now hold the same by which shall
be to come and unexpired at the time
of my decease for the best price or
Income that can be got for the same
to some person or persons whom my
Landlord for the time being shall
approve of And the money arising
from such Income I also direct and
and empower my Exors or the
Survivor of them to place out at
Interest during the natural life of
my said Wife on such Security as
aforesaid on such Security as
aforesaid & pay the Interest or
proceeds thereof to her my said Wife
for her life or to her assigns as
aforesaid she giving to them such
receipts as hereinbefore mentioned
for the same And immediately after
the decease of the said Sarah my
Wife I give and bequeath all the
said principal monies then out at
Interest as aforesaid And all such
Interest money as shall be then due
for the same unto my two Brothers
the said Robert Rix & Thomas Rix &
Mary Roper of Palgrave in the said
County of Suffolk Widow (late Mary
Rix Spinster) my Sister share &
share alike equally between them to
be divided And in case any or either
of them shall happen to die in my
life time or in the life time of the
said Sarah my Wife or after my
decease before his her or their
share or respective shares of & in
such monies shall become due &
payable to him her or them as
aforesaid leaving issue of his her
or their body lawfully begotten then
living then I give & bequeath the
share or respective shares of him
her or them so dying unto such issue
share & share alike equally between
them to be divided if more than one
& if but one such Child then I give
the whole of such share unto such
only or surviving child to & for his
or her own proper use and benefit
And I do hereby give & bequeath unto
the said Sarah my Wife all my
household goods & ffurniture plate
linen stock cattle crops of corn
then upon the said ffarm Grain & Hay
Implements in husbandry & Dairy
Utensils that I shall leave at the
time of my decease to & for her own
sole & proper use & benefit &
disposal she my said Wife paying
thereout all my just Debts that I
shall or may owe at the time of my
decease my ffuneral Charges the
Charges of the probate of this my
Will & my Exors for their care
trouble Charges & Journeys &
Expences in the Execution thereof &
all other incident Charges attending
the same And my Will & Mind further
is that my said Exors or the
Survivor of them shall not be
answerable for any loss or losses
that shall or may happen in the
execution of my Will unless the same
happen thro’ their or his wilful
default or negligence but that such
loss or losses shall be borne or
sustained by such person or persons
who would have been entitled to the
same provided no such loss or losses
had happened neither shall one of
them my said Exors be answerable for
the other of them nor for the Acts
Deeds or Receipts of the other of
them But each one for his own act
Deed & receipt only And Lastly my
Will & Mind further is that it shall
and may be lawful to & for my said
Exors & the Survivor of them his
Exors & Admors to take to themselves
from out of the monies that shall
come into their hands after my said
Wifes decease for all such Costs
troubles Charges Journies & Expences
as any or either of them shall be at
or put unto for or on account of the
further Exon of this my Will & the
trusts I have hereby in them reposed
In Witness whereof that this is my
last Will and Testament contained in
three sheets of paper affixed
together at the Top & written on the
foot thereof I have to the first &
second sheets st my hand & to this
third & last sheet thereof have set
my hand & affixed my Seal this sixth
day of August in the Year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred &
