The Will of Sarah Riddett

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Sarah Riddett of Ryde in the Isle of Wight Widow that is to say I direct my just debts and funeral and testamentary expences to be in the first place fully paid and satisfied out of my monies in my possession or due to me I bequeath my watch and gold chain belonging thereto to my son Edwin Perry Riddett absolutely I bequeath my mahogany reading stand unto my Son Albert Riddett absolutely I bequeath all other my trinkets and all my wearing apparel unto my Grand daughter Jane Riddett for her absolute use I give and bequeath unto my said Sons Edwin Perry Riddett and Albert Riddett all my share estate and interest of and in the leasehold dwellinghouse shop hereditaments and premises in the occupation of myself and my said sons And all other the hereditaments and premises mentioned in and demised by the said Indenture of Lease as my said dwellinghouse And all my monies household goods and furniture plate linen and china except as hereinbefore disposed of And all my other estate property and effects whatsoever of which I may die seized possessed or be entitled unto To hold the same with the appurtenances according to the different natures and qualities thereof unto the said Edwin Perry Riddett and Albert Riddett their executors administrators and assigns as tenants in common and not as joint tenants subject nevertheless to the payment and satisfaction of the several legacies following that is to say the sum of seventy pounds to my Son George Riddett the like sum of seventy pounds to my Son John Baker Riddett the sum of one hundred and twenty five pounds to and equally among my Grandchildren the five children of my deceased son Henry Riddett or such of them as shall be living at my decease or the Widow or husband of such of them as have previously died such widow or husband taking the part or share his or her wife or husband (as the case may be) would have taken if living and lastly the sum of twenty pounds to my late valued servant Mary the wife of George Payne of Ryde aforesaid Boat builder and which said  legacies I give and bequeath to the said several legatees accordingly and I direct the same to be paid to them respectively within twelve months next after my decease or in case either of my said Grand children shall be under the age of twenty one Years at the time his or her legacies would be payable under this my Will then I direct his or her legacies to be paid when he or she shall attain that age I appoint the said Edwin Perry Riddett and Albert Riddett Executors of this my Will and do direct that they may respectively or retain themselves all money costs and expences paid or incurred in or about the execution of this my Will and that each of them shall be answerable for his own acts deeds or defaults only and shall not be answerable for any losses not arising from his wilful neglect or default I revoke all former Wills by me heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty sixth day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty one _ Sarah Riddett
