Anno Dm 1631 Januarie the Eleaventh
In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Rickets
of Baltington in the Parish of Tyneham in the Isle of Purbeck in
the Countie of Dorset yeoman being sicke but of good memorie Doe
make this my last will and testament in manner followinge
bequeathinge my Soule to god through the Merits of Christ and my
body to be buried in the Churchyard of Tyneham my goods I give
and bequeath in manner as followeth ffirst I give unto Agnes
Ricketts my brother Walter’s daughter the Some of thirty pound
Item to Bettina Ricketts my brother’s daughter I give twenty
pound Item to Joane Ricketts my brother’s daughter twenty pound
Item I give to John Ricketts my brother’s Sonn twenty pounds
Item I give to Elizabeth Rickets my brother’s daughter fifteene
pound Item I give to Marie Rickets my brother’s daughter tenn
pound Item my meaninge is that these legacies above given are to
be delivered to my brother Walter’s children onely. Item I give
to George Rickets the Sonne of William Rickets twenty pounds
Item I give to Sara Rickets William Rickets daughter tenn pound
Item I give to John Hoskins twenty pound Item I give to the
poore of the Parish of Tyneham thirty shillings Item I give to
the Church of Tyneham tenn shillings Item I give to John Sanford
my godsonne one sheepe All the rest of my goods not given nor
bequeathed I give unto my wife Grace Ricketts whome I make my
whole and sole Executor Item I name and appoint for Overseers of
this my will Joseph Dyke of Tyneham and John Esmond of
Poverington to each of them one sheepe In wittnesse whereof I
have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare above
written Thomas Rickett his marke In the psence of the witnesses
Joseph Dike Thomas Clowe his marke (Provided that I give my
Executor the time of one yeare for the payment of the legacies
and also my Will is that the legacies given to the Children
above mentioned shall not be delivered but by the Discretion of
the Overseers for there good)
