In the name of God Amen this fourteenth day of
february one thousand seven hundred forty five I Peter Rainford of
Rainford in the County of Lancaster Husbandman being very sick and
weake in Body but of perfect mind and memory thankes be given to god
therefore Calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that
it is apointed for all men once to dye do make this my Last will and
Testement that is to say
princapaly and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the
hands of god that gave it and for my Body I recomend it to the Earth
to be buryed in a Cristian form at the Discresion of my Executors
hearafter named nothing Doubting but at the General Resurection I
shall receive the same again by the mighty power of god and as
touching shuch worly Estat it hath pleased god to Bless me with in
this world I give Devise and dispose of the same in the following
maner and form.
First it is my mind and will that all my Debts and funeral expences
together with the Probat of this my last will and Testement be first
paid out of my Personal Estate
Item it is my mind and will that at this years end wearon I am
entred all my goods and also my House in Preston be sould by my
Executors hearafter named and the overplus of money that ariseth
from my goods and house afore said (that is to say) the overplus of
money that will be Left when my Rents Debts and funeral Expences are
all paid. It is my mind and will that the over plust money as
aforesaid be equally Divided between my wife Lidia and Jane Rigby
Daughter of John Rigby of Ormskirk. And it is my mind and will that
that shair as aforesaid be kept out at Interest by my Executors till
she the said Jane Rigby Come to the Age of Twenty one years and the
Interest to goe yearly to the said Jane Rigby and at the time she
Comes to the Age of Twenty one it is my mind and will that the
aforesaid Jane Rigby to receave the full stocke from my Executors
hearafter named and if the said Jane Rigby Dye befor she Come to the
age of twenty one the shair that belonged to her to go to Lidia my
wife.
a Lastly I doe nominat and apoint and ordaine my well Beloved
friends James Grason stone Cutter of Rainford and Robert Elson of
Rainford and John Tenant of Childwell Executors of this my Last will
and Testement hoping they will be Carfull to execute the same
according to the trust Reposed in them in witness wearof I set my
hand and seal the day and year first written
