The Will of Thomas Quartermaine

 

In the Name of God Amen This Fourteenth day of November One thousand eight hundred and forty nine
I Thomas Quartermaine of the Town and Parish of Watlington in the County of Oxford Blacksmith being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory And as touching such worldly things wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form As this is my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all-
First I give and bequeath to my lawful Wife Elizabeth Quartermaine all my goods and chattels with all the stock and Trade the Trade part to be divided on the first of January next And also I give and bequeath to my loving Wife all the produce growing on about Three acres of Land in Windmill field And to receive all Bills and pay all debts
Also I give to my Brother Joseph Quartermaine one third of my business with one third of the profits of the above Trade And the remaining Two Thirds of the Trade for the benefit of my lawful Wife at the same time paying her portion of expense in the said Trade and to commence the Partnership as aforesaid on the 1st Jany next Also to take my Eldest Son Thomas Quartermaine to learn him the Trade in all its branches and likewise to take the apprentice Daniel Jacobs on the same conditions as on the former three years for the space of four more years when his time shall be expired Thomas Quartermaine
