In the Name of God Amen the seaventeenth Day of September Anno Dm 1631 I John Pope of Tebworth in the parish of Chalgrave in the County of Bedford blacksmyth being sicke of body but of perfect mind & memory I Praise God for it Doe make & ordeyne this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following ffirst I comend my soule into the hands of allmighty god my Creatour to Jesus Christ my Saviour and to the holy ghost who sanctiyeth mee and assureth me of my Salvation by and through the only death & merritts of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ And for my body I comitt it to the Earth from whence it came And concerning my temporall goods and Chattells first I give & bequeath to my sonne John Pope my shopes in Tebworth and all my working tooles therein and thereunto belongeing Item I give and bequeath to my sonne Thomas Pope the Some of Six Pounds thirteene Shillings & fower Pence of good & Lawfull money of England to bee payd unto him when hee shall accomplish the full age of one and twenty yeares Item I give & bequeath to my daughter Joane Pope the some of ffive pounds of good & lawfull money of England to be paid Unto her within six moneths next after my Decease All the rest of my goodes and chattelles whatsoever unbequeathed my debts and Legacies truly Paid and funerall expenses discharged I give & bequeath to Agnes my wife whom I make sole executrix of this my last will and testament I doe desire my loving frende John Osburne & my brother in lawe John Purratt to bee overseers of this my last will and testament to councell and advise my Executrix what is fittest to be done In wittnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written The mark & seale of John Pope// Witnesses hereunto//John Osburne//William Olney//William Curtys//
