David Polgrean late of
Pauls Wharf in the
parish of Saint Bennetts
in the City of London
but now resident in the
Town of Marazion in the
County of Cornwall
formerly House Porter to
Messrs William and
Grenfell Merchants
London being of sound
and disposing mind
memory and understanding
but mindful of my
mortality do this
fifteenth day of August
in the year of our Lord
one thousand eight
hundred and thirty two
make and publish this my
last Will and Testament
in manner and form
following that is to say
first I recommend my
Soul into the hands of
Almighty God who gave it
and my body I commit to
the Earth to be decently
and frugally interred
the expences of my
funeral to be paid out
of my personal estate as
is herein after
mentioned and to be
managed by Mr Samuel
Laity of the Town of
Marazion aforesaid
Yeoman secondly I give
and bequeath to my well
beloved daughter Nancy
Smith wife of Joseph
Smith of the borough of
Southwark Upholsterer
all my part proportion
and interest in all
monies which is now in
the four per centum
consolidated fund of the
Government of Great
Britain commonly called
the new four per cent
stock and currently
standing in the joint
names of David Polgrean
and Nancy Smith Also I
give and bequeath to my
Grandson David Polgrean
Smith son of the said
Joseph and Nancy Smith
the sum of three hundred
and fifty pounds in the
hands of Messrs Bolithos
sons and Company Bankers
at Chyandour in the
County of Cornwall after
the decease of his
mother Nancy Smith
provided he should
outlive her it is my
intention for her to
receive the interest
arising therefrom as
long as she shall live
and if it should so
happen that the said
Nancy Smith should
outlive her son David
Polgrean Smith then I
give and bequeath the
said sum of three
hundred and fifty pounds
unto the surviving
children of the said
Joseph and Nancy Smith
share and share alike
that is after the death
of their mother it is
also my intention that
my executor herein after
named shall at the
expiration of six months
after my decease take
the said sum of three
hundred and fifty pounds
out of the hands of the
said Messrs Bolithos
sons and Company and
place the same
immediately in the four
per centum consolidated
fund of the Government
of Great Britain
commonly called the new
four per cent stock for
the purpose before
mentioned Also I give
and bequeath to my
daughter the said Nancy
Smith with of Joseph
Smith all my leasehold
dwelling house and
premises with the
appurtenances situate
lying and being in the
Town of Marazion
aforesaid now let by me
to James Courtis as
Tenants at will Also I
give and bequeath to my
well beloved daughter
Elizabeth Green wife of
William Green of Kent
Street in the City of
London Inn Keeper the
sum of five pounds and
also eight silver spoons
....six tea spoons and
two table spoons (the
said sum of five pounds
to be paid by my
Executor at the
expiration of six months
after my decease) Also I
give unto my Grandson
the aforesaid David
Polgrean Smith son of
Joseph and Nancy Smith
my silver watch to be
delivered to him
immediately after my
decease it is also my
Will that if at my
decease there should not
be sufficient ready
money or cash to defray
all reasonable expences
attending my funeral and
also proving this my
last Will and Testament
and paying the legacy of
five pounds hereinbefore
bequeathed to my
daughter Elizabeth Green
that the deficiency
whatever it may be paid
out of the three hundred
and fifty pounds
bequeathed to my
Grandson David Polgrean
Smith the reside of the
same to be applied as
before mentioned And I
do hereby make ordain
constitute and appoint
my confidential friend
Joseph Coward the elder
of the City of London
sole Executor of this my
last Will and Testament
hereby revoking all
former and other Wills
and Testaments by me at
any time heretofore made

and subscribed my hand
and seal the day and
