The Will of Richard Pocock
In the Name of God Amen I Richard Pocock the Elder late of Red Lane ffarm and now of East Ilsley in the County of Berks Yeoman being somewhat indisposed but of sound mind memory and understanding and mindful of the uncertainty of this life Do make my last Will and Testament in manner following ffirst I humbly recommend my soul into God's Grace and Mercy thro' the Merits of Jesus Christ my saviour and the ordering of my ffuneral I leave to the discretion of my Executor herein after named And as to my Temporal Estate I dispose thereof as follows Whereas my son John Pocock of ffawley ffarm in the said County of Berks Yeoman stands indebted to me upon his Bond or Obligation in the principal sum of One hundred pounds and Interest I do hereby give and bequeath the said Bond or Obligation and the said Principal sum of One hundred pounds so due thereon unto my Daughter Mary Pocock and her Assigns to and fortheir own use And I do hereby order and direct the said John Pocock to pay her the same accordingly but my Will is that my said son John Pocock shall not be Charged or Chargeable and liable to pay my said Daughter any Interest for the said sum of One hundred pounds until she shall make a demand thereof and I forgive my said son John Pocock all Interest that shall be due to me upon the said Bond at the time of my decease I further give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Mary Pocock the sum of One hundred pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid her by my Executor hereinafter named within Twelve months next after my decease I also give my said Daughter Mary Pocock all and singular my Household Goods and Implements of Household Brass Pewter Linnen and other Goods and Chattels now being in the dwellinghouse where I now live in East Ilsley aforesaid or shall be there at the time of my decease to and for her own Use And to Prevent disputes amongst any of my Children after my decease I hereby declare that the Stock by me left at Red Lane and household Goods there belongs to and is the property of my son Robert Pocock, he having paid me part of the Moneys and given me Security for payment of the Remainder agreed between him and me for me the same All my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments real and personal Estate whatsoever not hereinbefore otherwise disposed of wherein I now am or shall or may be seized of interested in or intitled unto at the time of my decease either in possession revertion remainder or expectancy I give devise and bequeath the same and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their Rights Member and Appurtenances unto my son Richard Pocock his heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns to and for his and their only proper Use and behoof for ever Subject and liable nevertheless and Charged and Chargeable with the payment of all and every my Just Debts, the aforesaid Legacy, funeral Expences and performing this my Will for which purpose I do hereby make and appoint the said Richard Pocock sole Executor of this my Will revoking and making void all and every former and other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said Richard Pocock the Elder the Testator have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Eighth day of June in the year of our Lord 1757
