In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Plater of the City of Oxford Grocer being of this time thro God's Mercy in sound Health both of Mind and Body yet knowing the uncertainty of this present life do hereby make this my last Will and Testament as under after committing my Soul to God in hope of Salvation thro the Merits of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my Body to be decently interred I dispose of the Substance God hath blessed me with as follows ffirst I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane the Wife of John Bartlett and the Heirs of her Body the House I now inhabit with the Garden and all appurtenances belonging thereunto with the proviso that my Daughter Mary and my Daughter Elizabeth Plater shall live....without Molestation whatever and provided that the said Mary Plater and Elizabeth Plater should see fit to Remove and Settle elsewhere the said John Bartlett shall pay to the said Elizabeth Plater the Yearly Sum of Four Pounds a Year for and during her natural life from the Rents and Profits of the said House and Garden Item I give my Daughter Mary Plater the House and Tenements I purchased of my late Uncle Anth Franklin held by Lease of Magdalen College and now occupied by Mr Herbert and others Item I give my Daughter Elizabeth Plater all my other Substance which I shall be possessed of at the time of my Death of whatever nature or kind whether Houses Land Stock in Trade Household Goods Money or anything whatsoever and wheresoever and appoint her Executrix of this my last Will and Testament with the advice and under the direction of William Plater her Uncle hereby revoking all other Wills and I declare this to be my last Will and Testament whereunto I have set my hand and Seal this the Eighteenth Day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty six Thos Plater
