The Will of Sarah Peters

I Sarah Peters of Cheriton in the County of Somerset Spinster do make my Will as follows I direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and expenses of proving this my Will be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease by my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named I give and devise all that my dwelling house with all other the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging situate at West Stour in the County of Dorset unto my sister Grace Moody for the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the said dwelling house and premises unto my nephew George Parsons son of my sister Jane Parsons his heirs and assigns for ever. I give unto my said sister Jane Parsons the sum of one hundred pounds I give unto my sister Mary Moody the sum of one hundred pounds I give unto my sister Elizabeth Powell the sum of one hundred pounds I give unto my nephew Charles Parsons the sum of fifty pounds I give unto my said nephew George Parsons the sum of one hundred pounds I give unto my nieces the daughters of my said sisters Jane Parsons and Mary Moody and my brother John Peters the sum of five pounds each as a memento of my regard to purchase something in remembrance of me Also I give and bequeath unto my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named the sum of four hundred pounds which is due and owing to me on a mortgage from Mr George .ill Pur..... In trust to pay the interest thereof unto my said sister Elizabeth Powell during the term of her natural life payable half yearly the first payment to be made within six months after my decease and from and after the decease of my said sister Elizabeth Powell I give the said sum of four hundred pounds and all interest which may accrue due thereon since the last half yearly payment unto my said nephew George Parsons. Also I give unto my Executor and Executrix hereinafter named the sum of three hundred and fifty pounds In trust to permit my said sister Grace Moody to receive the interest thereof during the term of her natural life payable half yearly the first payment to be made within six months after my decease and from and after the decease of my said sister Grace Moody I give the said sum of three hundred and fifty pounds and all interest which may have accrued due thereon since the last half yearly payment unto my said nephew George Parsons. Also I give and bequeath unto my said sister Elizabeth Powell all my pictures prints and drawings of every kind Also I give unto my said sister Grace Moody and my nephew George Parsons all my household goods and furniture not hereinbefore disposed of to be equally divided between them share and share alike All the rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever of which I am or shall be entitled to after the death of my mother under the will of my late father or otherwise I give devise and bequeath unto my said nephew George Parsons his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever. And my will further is that in case the said several legacies hereinbefore by me given by this my will shall by reason of any debt or debts due and owing or which hereafter may grow due and owing to my said Estate or by any misfortunes or means whatsoever my said Estate shall prove or become insufficient to answer and pay the respective legacies in full in manner hereinbefore directed then and in such case I do hereby will and direct that all such losses or deficiencies so happening to my said Estate shall be borne and sustained by all and every my said legatees in proportion and according to the amount of their respective legacies And I do hereby constitute and appoint my said nephew George Parsons and my said sister Grace Moody Executor and Executrix of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at any time heretofore made. And my will is And I hereby direct that my said Executor and Executrix shall each of them be answerable for the separate acts only and not the one of them for the acts of the other and that they shall not be accountable for any loss which may happen to my Estate by reason of the failure of any security or securities whereon the same depend so that the same do not happen through any negligence or default of them or either of them And I will and direct that they may retain all costs charges and expenses which they or either of them may sustain in and about the execution of this my will And lastly I hereby declare that the receipt or receipts of my said Executor and Executrix and the survivor of them and the executors administrators and assigns of such survivor shall be an effectual release and discharge for any sum or sums of money which shall become payable to them him or her under or by virtue of this my will to any person or persons paying the same for so much money as in such receipt or receipts shall be expressed to be received and that such person or persons .... or any of their Executors or administrators paying the same shall not be obliged to see to the appuration of such moneys nor be answerable or accountable for any loss misapplication ...appuration thereof In Witness whereof I have to this my will contained in four sheets of paper set my hand to the first three sheets and my hand and seal to the fourth and last sheet the ninth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty six
