The Will of Nicholas Pentreath

 

In the Name of God Amen I Nicholas Pentreath of the Village of Mousehole in the Parish of Paul in the County of Cornwall being in a weak state of body but of Perfect and disposing mind and memory thanks be given unto God for the same calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die hereby make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and first I commit my immortal Soul into the Hands of almighty God that gave it me and my body I commend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial and as touching my Worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I give and bequeath in the following manner and form first I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Ann Pentreath and my Son Peter Pentreath jointly all my Leasehold House Cellar Garden and ffurnaces situate in the Gainick  in the Village of Mousehole aforesaid by them jointly to be enjoyed during their natural lives or the Survivor of them by them to be kept in proper tenantable repair and full lives and should any controversy arise about repairing the same then the said Ann Pentreath shall repair and keep the same Premises in repair and full ....and repay herself out of the Income or profits arising therefrom and after the decease of the said Peter Pentreath and Ann Pentreath the same Premises to be enjoyed jointly by my two Grandsons Son of my Son Nicholas Pentreath viz Nicholas Pentreath and John Pentreath or the survivor of them secondly I give unto my daughter Mary the Wife of Abraham Roberts the sum of one shilling to be paid within Twelve calendar months after my decease 3rd I give to my Daughter Joan the Wife of Richard Mann the like sum of one shilling to be paid as above 4th I also give to my Daughter Elizabeth the Wife of Nicholas Jasper the like sum of one shilling to be paid as above 5th I also give to my Daughter Phillis the Wife of ffrancis Rose the sum of one pounds to be paid by my Executor within Twelve calendar months after my decease 6th I also give to my Daughter Sally the sum of one shilling to be paid as above I give and bequeath unto my Son Nicholas Pentreath whom I constitute and ordain Executor of this my last Will and Testament the rest residue and remainder of my Estate Real and Personal together with all debts Credits ....... dues and demands whatsoever he Yielding and Paying unto the above mentioned Persons the several before mentioned legacies together with all burial charges and lawful costs and demands and I do hereby revoke all former Will or Wills by me made or in any ways before mentioned willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament written on two sheets of Paper In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this seventeenth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one – Nichs Pentreath
