The Will of Richard Pedder

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Richard Pedder of the Parish of Redbourne in the County of Hertford Victualler which I make and establish in manner following that is to say first my mind and will is that all my just debts funeral expences and the probate of this my will be paid and satisfied Also I give and bequeath unto my wife Mary All that my capital stock in the three per cent consolidated annuities in the Bank of England amounting to One thousand six hundred pounds to and for her own use and benefit for and during the term of her natural life Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife the interest of three hundred pounds principal money secured to me by the Bond or Obligation of Mr William How for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after the death of my said wife I give and bequeath all the said sum of One thousand six hundred pounds three per cent consolidated annuities and also the said principal sum of three hundred pounds secured on Bond as aforesaid unto my two brothers John Pedder and Thomas Pedder if they shall be living at the time of the decease of my said wife share and share alike but in case my brother John Pedder should happen to die in the life time of my said wife I give the share of him so before bequeathed unto and amongst all the children of him my said brother John to be equally divided between them share and share alike and in case my brother Thomas should happen to die in the life time of my said wife I give and bequeath unto Hannah the daughter of my said brother Thomas the full sum of three hundred pounds so secured by Bond as aforementioned and the other part of the share of my said three per cent consolidated annuities which my said brother Thomas would have been entitled to if living at the time of my said wifes I give and bequeath unto and amongst the children of my said brother John to be equally divided between them share and share alike also I give and devise unto my niece Susannah Hunt now the wife of Thomas Hunt of Dunstable in the County of Bedford Waggoner all that my copyhold cottage or tenement and premises situate at Redbourne aforesaid To hold to her my said niece for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same copyhold cottage or tenement and premises unto my nephew John Pedder son of my brother John Pedder To hold to him and his heirs and assigns for ever. Also I give and bequeath unto my said niece Susannah Hunt the sum of One hundred pounds to be paid to her in three months after my decease to be paid to her by my executrix hereinafter named Also I give and bequeath unto my brother John Pedder the Note of Hand given to me by John Alexander Dodd Esquire for One hundred and eleven pounds and also all principal monies and interest due thereon Also I give and bequeath unto my brother John Pedder the Note of Hand given to me by Robert Pocock of Redbournbury Mills for twenty pounds together with all principal monies and interest due thereon Also I give unto my friend Jeremiah Smith of Saint Albans Victualler the sum of Nineteen guineas for his trouble in acting as my Executor also all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath unto my said wife and do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said wife and my said friend Jeremiah Smith of Saint Albans in the said County of Hertford Victualler joint executrix and executor of this my will and do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty eighth day of January One thousand eight hundred and nine
