Will:
In
the name of God, Amen.
I, Thomas Peddar of
Garstang in the county
of Lancaster, yeoman,
being wake and infirm of
body but of sound and
disposing mind and
memory, praised be God
for the same, do make,
publish and declare this
to be my last will and
testament
After the recommendation
of my soul into the
hands of Almighty God,
my body to such a decent
interment as my
executors shall think
fit, I will that my just
debts (if any), funeral
expenses and probate of
this my will be paid and
discharged
I
will and give to Mary my
loving wife the sum of
one hundred pounds and
will that she shall
cohabit and dwell with
John my son until such
time as either she or my
said son may fortune to
marry, without and
account to be rendered
by her to John, my said
son, for boardage or
otherwise in any respect
And if in case my son
may fortune to marry, I
will that Mary, my said
wife, over and above the
said sum of one hundred
pounds, shall have the
liberty of choosing such
bed and furniture for
the same, with what
other of linen and other
household goods in my
possession as she may
think fit for the
furnishing a room or
place she may think
suitable for her
habitation
I
likewise will she shall
from time to time have a
cow well kept in a milk
pasture as well in
summer as also in winter
with some convenient of
my outhousing for her
cows and hay standing
free and clear from
lord’s rent, taxes or
repairs
And also such room or
place for her dwelling
in my said house or
houses as she may think
proper on the like
conditions
I
likewise will and give
to John my said son the
rest, residue and
remainder of my goods,
chattels and personal
estate
And I do humbly desire
my good lord Charles
?Spencer Esquire to
admit my said son and
his mother tenants of
this tenement called
?Crones Tenement in
Garstang aforesaid
I
likewise constitute and
appoint Mary my said
wife and John my son
executors of this my
last will and testament,
desiring my good friend
and neighbour John
Corles to be aiding and
assisting to them in
what may be in his power

Obligation:
Know all men by these
presents that we Mary
Peddar, widow, and John
Corles, gentleman, both
of Garstang in the
county of palatine of
Lancaster, are holden
and firmly bound unto
the Right Reverend
Father in God, Samuel,
by divine permission
Lord Bishop of Chester,
in six hundred pounds of
good and lawful money of
Great Britain, to be
paid to the said Right
Reverend Father, or his
true and lawful
attorney, his executors,
administrators or
assigns, to which
payment well and truly
to be made we bind
ourselves and each of
us, our heirs, executors
and administrators
firmly by these
presents, sealed with
our seals, dated the
fourteenth day of April
in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven
hundred and thirty five.
The condition of this
obligation is such, that
if the above bounden
Mary Peddar shall and do
well and truly execute
and perform the last
will and testament of
Thomas Peddar, late of
Garstang abovesaid,
yeoman, deceased, and do
pay all his debts and
legacies so far as his
goods and personal
estate will extend, and
the laws shall bind her
if also she do exhibit
into court a true and
perfect inventory of the
said deceased’s goods
and personal estate, and
give a true and just
account of her acting in
the premises when she
shall thereunto be
lawfully called, that
then this obligation to
be void, or else in
force.
