Notes:
 

1.

He was presented as Rector of Rock in 1648 and continued in that living until his death.

2.

His wife was Mary Newce, one of the coheirs of John Newce who held the manor and advowson of Rock.

3.

His daughter Ann married Sares Boylston in 1667.

4.

He had an elder son Edward who was married but died before his father leaving a son, another Edward.

5.

Boylston was curate of Bewdley chapel from 1669, and was presented to the Rectory of Rock after the death of his father-in-law, remaining there until his own death in 1716, when his wife’s nephew, Edward Partington was presented.

6.

His daughters Elizabeth married Walter Jones, Frances married John Davis, Mary married Henry Eccleshall, and Jane married (after the will was made) Joshua Davis.

Text:

 

In the name of God, Amen.  The thirteenth day of February one thousand six hundred seventy one in the four and twentieth year of the reign of our sovereign lord King Charles the second and in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and seventy one, I, Edward Partington of the Parish of Rock in the County of Worcester, Clerk, being weak in body but of perfect memory, praised be God, do make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following

First I give and bequeath my soul into the hands of Almighty God hoping through the merits and Passion of my Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain remission of my sins and everlasting life, and my body to be buried in the chancel at Rock in or near the grave of my late dear wife

As for my worldly estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me, I give and bequeath it in manner following

First, I give and bequeath unto the poor of the parish of Rock the sum of three pounds to be distributed amongst them by executor hereafter named

Item, I give and bequeath unto my youngest daughter Jane the sum of five hundred pounds to be paid unto her before any other legacies be paid except what is given to the poor

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the sum of one hundred pounds

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary fifty pounds

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Frances the sum of fifty pounds

Item, I give and bequeath unto my daughter Boylston twenty pounds

Item, I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas the sum of five pounds

As for all the rest of my goods, cattle, and chattels not yet disposed of my will is that it be equally divided amongst all my children, except one ??? bed which I have given unto my daughter Mary

And I do make and ordain my son Thomas my sole executor of this my last will and testament

And I do appoint my loving sons in law Mr. Sares Boylston, Mr. Walter Jones, Mr. Henry Eccleshall, and John Davis overseers of this my last will and testament,

And do by this last will and testament revoke all wills and testaments by me formerly made, in witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and seal the day and year above written

 

Memorandum, this following was put in the will before signed and sealed, Item, It is my desire, will and intent that if my daughter Jane should die before she comes to age or be married, that then her said portion before bequeathed shall be equally divided between my surviving children or their heirs  Edward Partington

Sealed and published in the presence of us Charles ?Hinkesman, Anne Cartwright, her mark

 

 

Probate was granted in London to Thomas Partington on 24 January 1672
