The Will of William Parsons

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Parsons of Holton in the County of Somerset Yeoman made this twenty third day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five. I devise my messuage at Holton aforesaid in the occupation of John House with the appurtenances to my son William his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise my two Messuages and Garden in Holton aforesaid in the occupation of Edmund Pittman and John Pittman with their appurtenances unto my son Charles, his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise my Messuages and Orchard in Holton aforesaid which I purchased some years since of the Reverend James Plucknett deceased unto my son Isaac his heirs and assigns for ever. I devise my Messuage and Garden in Holton aforesaid in the occupation of James Bennitt with the appurtenances unto my wife Mary her heirs and assigns for ever. I devise my messuages in the same Place commonly called Holton Old Inn with the Malthouse Stable Orchard and appurtenances and all the .... casks utensils and other things belonging to me therein and thereupon And also my messuage farm and lands at Kington Magna in the county of Dorset lately occupied by William Ford and now by ------------ Trim and Hannah his wife late Hannah Ford spinster with the appurtenances unto my sons Uriah and Henry Parsons their heirs and assigns for ever as Tenants in Common and not as joint tenants charged nevertheless with the payment of the following legacies - that is to say - One hundred pounds to my said son William, fifty pounds to my son James, one hundred pounds to my son George, one hundred pounds to my said son Isaac, one hundred pounds to my said son Charles, and forty pounds to my daughter Martha to whom respectively I give and bequeath the same and direct payment of such several legacies to be made to the several legatees or their representatives at the end of one year after my decease but without interest. All the rest of my household goods furniture farming stock implements my Husbandry Personal Estate and effects after payment of my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses I give and bequeath unto and equally between my said wife and my said sons Uriah Parsons and Henry Parsons ........... ............ ..................... life of my said wife and from and immediately after her decease unto and equally between my said sons Uriah and Henry for their own use as tenants in common And I appoint my said wife and sons Uriah and Henry Executors of this my will hereby revoking all former wills In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year first above written

Signed sealed published and declared by the said testator as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribe our names as witnesses

This is a codicil to be annexed to and taken as part of my will which bears date the twenty third day of June one thousand eight hundred and thirty five Whereas since the date and execution of my said will I have purchased three fields called Curtis's and Bond's Close in North Cheriton of Messrs Plucknet - Now I do hereby devise the same fields unto my two sons Uriah Parsons and Henry Parsons their heirs and assigns for ever as tenants in common. I confirm my will in all respects In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty six.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said William Parsons as and for a codicil to his Will in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each have subscribed our names as witnesses


On the 8th day of July 1837 The within Will and Codicil of William Parsons late of Kington Magna in the county of Dorset yeoman deceased was proved on the oaths of Uriah Parsons and Henry Parsons both of Kington Magna aforesaid two of the executors therein named to whom administration of all and singular the Goods chattels and credits of the said deceased was granted they being first duly sworn
