The Will of Richard Parsons

 

In the name of God Amen I Richard Parsons the Elder of Horwood in the parish of Wincanton in the County of Somerset Yeoman being weak in body but God be praised of sound and perfect mind and memory do make ordain and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I do give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Frances Parsons the sum of £40 of lawful money of Great Britain and the same to be paid unto her the said Frances Parsons within the space of two years next after my decease without interest for the same and also I do give unto my said granddaughter Frances my best feather bed together with all the furniture to the same belonging Item I do give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Jane Parsons the sum of £30 of lawful money of Great Britain and the same to be paid unto her the said Jane within the space of three years next after my decease without interest for the same Item I give and bequeath unto my grandson Peter Parsons the sum of £10 of lawful money of Great Britain and the same to be paid unto him when he shall accomplish his age of one and twenty years without interest for the same Provided always nevertheless and it is my last Will that if and in case my said grandson Peter Parsons shall happen to decease in his minority not attaining his said age of 21 years that then and in such case his said legacy to cease and not to become payable Item I give and bequeath unto my granddaughter Anne Parsons the sum of £10 of lawful money of Great Britain and the same to be paid unto her when she shall accomplish her age of 21 years without interest for the same but it is my Will that if and in case my said granddaughter Ann shall happen to die in her minority not attaining her said age of 21 years that her said legacy to become void Item all and singular my messuage or dwelling house closes and lands of inheritance situate within the several parishes of Wincanton Horsington and Stoke Trister in the said County of Somerset or elsewhere I give and devise the same unto my grandson William Parsons To Have and to Hold all and singular the same lands and premises with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances unto my said grandson William Parsons and to his heirs and assigns for ever Provided always nevertheless and it is my Will that forth of the same Lands so as before by me devised to my said grandson William Parsons and his heirs I do charge the same with such annuities or yearly payments as followeth (That is to say) I give and bequeath one yearly annuity of four pounds per annum of lawful money of Great Britain unto my son John Parsons for the term of his natural life clear of all reprizes and the same to be paid him by half yearly payments by even parts and portions and the first payment thereof to commence and begin in the space of six months next after my decease Item I also give one other yearly annuity of four pounds per annum of lawful money of Great Britain unto my son Richard Parsons for the term of his natural life free of all reprizes and the same to be paid him by half yearly payments by even parts and portions and the first payment thereof to commence and begin in the space of six months next after my decease And also I do further give unto my said granddaughter Frances Parsons one yearly annuity of four pounds per annum of lawful money of Great Britain for the term of her natural life free of all reprizes and the same to be paid her by half yearly payments by even parts and portions and the first payment thereof to commence and begin in the space of six months next after my decease And I do hereby this my Will bind and make subject all and singular the same lands and premises before by me given and devised unto my said grandson William Parsons and his heirs in whose hands custody or possession so ever the same be to be always subject to the true and sure payments of the aforesaid annuities and legacy Item I do also give and bequeath unto my grandson William Parsons all and singular my leasehold estates that I have in Stoke Trister aforesaid to hold the same to him the said William Parsons his Executors Administrators and assigns for and during all the residue and remainder of years of have therein Lastly all the rest and residue of my personal goods and chattels of what nature kind or quality soever the same be I do likewise give and bequeath the same unto my said grandson William Parsons whom I do nominate constitute and appoint and ordain to be whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament he paying my just debts and legacies as aforesaid and I do hereby revoke and disannull all former and other Wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto sat my hand and seal the 4th day of April in the second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith or Annoq Dni 1716 Richard Parsons signed sealed published and declared and attested by the Testator to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us Thomas Abbott Robt Wadman John Wadman
