In the name of god Amen the eight daye of May in the 21st eare of the Raigne of our Sovraigne lord James by the grace of god kinge of England France and Ireland defender of the faith and of Scotland the fiftie sixt 1623 I Thomas Parr of Newton in Makerfield in the countie of Lancaster Butcher beeinge sicke in ..... but of good and p’fecte memorie thankes bee to god doe therefore devise leave and make this my last will and testament in manner and forme followinge first and principally I Committ my soule into the hands of Almightie god my Creator trustinge to bee saved by the precious blood sheaddinge of His deare sonne Jesus Christ my redeemer and my bodie to bee buried in the Christian buriall in my parish Church yorde of Winwicke at the discretion of my executors First it is my will that my funerall expenses bee discharged out of my whole goods likewise it is my will that everie one that I am godfather unto have 12d apeece alsoe I doe give everie one that I am greate grandfather unto six pence a peece It’m I give unto my daughter in law Jane Parr 40s to buye her clothes w’th It’m I give to my daughter Jane Hyton 26s 8d to buye her a Coate w’th alsoe I give unto Elizabeth Wood 20s to buye her a Coate w’th alsoe I doe give nto her Children one Cowe w’ch shee now hath a blacke Cowe w’th a white eldar? for theire use Alsoe I doe give everies one that I am grandfather unto 12d apeece likewise I doe give unto my sonne in law John Garnet one aker of ground w’ch I hould of William Baines alis Luter lyinge in Newton towne feild duringe the whole tearme I have it of him likewise I doe give unto the said John Garnet one aker of ground w’ch I hould of the tenemente of Robert Maddocke by Indenture duringe the whole tearme I have it hee payinge yearely duringe the tearme unto Katheringe Parr Alice Parr Sislie Parr and Elen Parr daughters of William Parr my sonne 13s 4d equally amongst them everie yeare duringe the tearme of the Indenture to bee put forth for the beste use of those foure children by the discretion of William Rowlinson sonne in law and to bee payed by the saide John Garnet unto the saide William Rowlinson everie such yeare uppon the feaste day of S’nt Michaell the archangell Alsoe I doe give unto my sonne William Parr and his heires for the heirloomes one payre of bedstockes standinge in the lower Chamber one boarde and a frame standinge in the house together w’th all shelves benches & formes occupyed in anie roome of the house w’th trestes and such like and a foulden boarde in the lower Chamber one payre of bedstockes w’th seelinge at the heade in the upp’ Chamber and a payre of bedstockes standinge at the staire foote Alsoe I doe give unto my daughter Jane Hyton one towellwrought w’th blacke Alsoe I doe give unto Elizabeth Wood one Chaffebed one payre of hempen sheetes one blanket one Coverlet & a feather boulster likewise I doe give unto Thomas Parr my grandchild one browne cowe w’ch his father had likewise I give unto Richard Parr and his sisters daughters of William Parr my sonne foureteene pounds as it will be gotten in from the Craditors likewise I give unto John Garnet all the rest of my goods w’ch remaine over the payinge of debts discharginge of my legacies and funerall expenses Alsoe I doe Constitute appoynte ordaine & make Edward Parr of Newton linendrap’ and John Garnet execators of this my laste will and testament In witness where of I have heere unto sett my hand and seale the daye and yeare first above written.
