The Will of Thomas Parkinson

 

In the Name of God Amen. I THOMAS PARKINSON of Gosberton in the County of Lincoln Grazier being Aged and infirm in Body but of a sound and disposing mind and Memory but calling to mind the uncertainty of Life expecting the Time of my dissolution to be near, do constitute make and appoint this to be my last Will and Testament as follows. Firstly whereas I gave to SARAH MY BELOVED WIFE and her Heirs about the Time of our Marriage to her a Bond in trust to John Carter of Billingborough for the Payment of forty Pounds as aforesaid now my Will is that the said Forty Pounds be made up two Hundred Pounds to be paid by my Executor hereinafter named unto my said loving Wife as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. Also in case I shall happen to outlive my loving Wife then and not otherways my Will is that the before recited Bond be made up one Hundred Pound and by my Executor paid for the Use and behoof of my GRANDSON IN LAW THOMAS LACEY within twelve Months after my decease. Also I give unto my GRANDSON THOMAS PARKINSON One Hundred Pounds. Also I give unto my GRANDSON THOMAS CLARKE twenty pounds. Also I give unto my GRANDSON RALPH CLARKE twenty Pounds. Lastly all the rest of my Goods Chattels and Personal Estate whatsoever ungiven and unbequeathed, I give and bequeath unto my SON JOHN PARKINSON whom I make and appoint the sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament requesting of him to pay my Rents Debts and the Legacies above afsoon as conveniently may be after my deceafe and bring my Body decently to the Ground. In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this sixteenth day of January in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and Sixty Eight. (signed) Tho Parkinson
Signed Sealed and declared by the said Testator Thomas Parkinson to be his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the subscribers who hereunto set our Hands in the presence of the said Testator and of each other. (all signed) Charles Huckbody, Elisabeth Allen, J? Birks

5 September 1768 Then was John Parkinson the Sole Executor named in the above written Will of his Father Thos Parkinson, decd duly sworn to the Validity thereof and well and faithfully to execute the same.
