The Will of Sarah Parkinson

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me SARAH PARKINSON of Gosberton in the County of Lincoln Widow made this Twenty third day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and seventy three. First I give and bequeath unto my GRANDSON THOMAS LACEY all my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever. And I do hereby appoint the Revd Mr J Towers of Billingborough and my Nephew John Carter Guardians for my said Grandson until he attains the Age of Twenty one years. And my Will is that the said John Towers and John Carter do and shall with all convenient speed after my Death convert my Personal Estate into ready Money and place out at Interest so much as shall remain (after my Debts and Funeral Expences (sic) are discharged) for the use of my said Grandson and my Will further is that the said John Towers and John Carter do and shall pay unto MARY LACEY mother of the said Thomas Lacey The Interest Money of One Hundred Pounds part of my said and Personal Estate intended to be paid out as foresaid yearly and every year so long as her said Son Thomas Lacey shall live with her towards his Maintenance, and the remainder of the Interest Money arising from my Personal Estate shall remain in the hands of his Guardians until such time as he shall be fit to be put out to some Trade or Businefs, to be applied for that purpose. But if my said Grandson shall happen to die before he attains the age of Twenty One Years Then I give unto my said NEPHEW JOHN CARTER the principal Money arising from my Personal Estate intended to be put at Interest as aforesaid. The paying unto the said Mary Lacey the sum of Twenty Pounds and unto THOMAS CLARK of Moulton my Grandson in Law the Sum of Ten Pounds within six months next after the decease of my said Grandson Lacey. And I do hereby appoint my said Grandson Thomas Lacey Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament he paying all my Just Debts and Legacies and Funeral Expenses. And Lastly do hereby revoke all former Wills by me made. In Witnefs whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year first above written. (signed) Sarah Parkinson
Signed Sealed Published and declared by the Testatrix of and as her last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed our names so to in her presence (signed) Jane Yarburgh, Stephen Marston?

On the thirteenth day of August in the Year of our Lord 1778 Letters of Administration of all and singular the Goods Chattells and Credits of the within named Sarah Parkinson decd together with her last Will and Testament amassed were granted and committed unto the Revd John Towers Clerk surviving Testamentary Guardian of the within named Thomas Lacey a Minor the sole Executor within named, during the Minority and for the use and benefit of the said Minor, he the said John Towers having been first duly sworn before the Revd & Worshipfull John Gordon DD Archdeacon of Lincoln & James Beckham Archdeacon of Leicester Commifsioners especially appointed by the Lord Bishop of Lincoln to hold his biennial visitations & exercise all manner of Episcopal Jurisdiction within the Archdeaconries of Lincoln Leicester & Stow pending the said Visitation.

On the thirteenth day of Augst 1778 The Revd John Towers Clerk Surviving Testamentary Guardian of the within named Thomas Lacy a Minor the sole Executor named in the within written Will was Sworn well and faithfully to Administer the goods Chattells and Credits of the within named Sarah Parkinson decd during the Minority and for the use and benefit of the said Thomas Lacy & holdout an Inventory to pafs an Accounting when lawfully required. Before us John Gordon, James Bickham> Commifsioners for this purpose especially appointed by the Lord Bishop of Lincoln

On the fourteenth day of November 1795 This Will was duly proven by the oath of Thomas Lacy the sole Executor therein named whereby Administration was Granted he having been first duly sworn before the Revd George Jepson Clerk lawfull surrogate of the Worshipfull William Barthone? LLD? Vicar General and official principal of the Right Revd Father in God George by divine permifsion and Bishop of Lincoln lawfully constituted.

On the 14 day of Nov 1795 Thos Lacy the Executor within named was duly sworn as the effects of the decd did not amount to three hundred pounds.
