The Will of William Page

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Page of the Parish of Aylesford in the County of Kent Carpenter being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I surrender up my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping to be saved by and through the only merits and satisfaction of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently intered and buried by and at the discretion of my Executrix here after named and I do make constitute and appoint my dearly beloved Wife Elizabeth Page sole Executrix I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Elizabeth Page all and singular my lands messuages and tenements situated in Ordinance Place Chatham in the said County together with all my monies and securities for money household goods chattels debts and moveable effects by her freely to enjoy during her life (subject to the Payments of my just debts and funeral expences)and at her decease to be equally divided between my six children or as many as shall then survive namely Sarah Watson William Page Stephen Page Richard Bristed Mary Ann Page and Lucy Page and in case of distress I empower my said Executrix to sell and dispose of the said Lands messuages and tenements for her support during her life but if she shall marry again it is my wish they may not be sold but left to be equally shared amongst my children at her decease and I do revoke all former Wills by me heretofore made and I do declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said William Page the testator have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this tenth day of ffebruary in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty _ William Page

Codicil be it known to all Men by these Presents that I William Page of the Parish of Aylesford Carpenter have made and declared my last Will and Testament in writing bearing date the 10th day of ffebruary one thousand eight hundred and twenty I the said William Page by this present Codicil do ratify and confirm my last Will and Testament that is to say I forbid my said Wife Elizabeth Page not to sell or dispose of my said lands messuages and tenements but to remain as they are and at her decease to be equally divided between my children as aforesaid my will and meaning is that this Codicil be adjudged to be a part of my last Will and Testament witness my hand the second day of April one thousand eight hundred and twenty William Page Signed in the Presence of us John Perrin Senr _ Geo Cutbath
