The Will of Elizabeth Page
In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Page of the
Parish of Portsea in the County of Southampton Widow being in good
Health and of sound Disposing Mind Memory and Understanding Do Make and
Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following, that is to
say, First and Principally I recommend my Soul to God my Body I commit
to the Earth to be decently Interred at the Discretion of my Executors
hereinafter named And as to my Worldly Estate and Effects wherewith I am
possessed I Give and Dispose of as follows I Give and Bequeath unto
Joseph Ray Junr the son of Joseph Ray of Portsmouth Common the Sum of
Twenty Pounds which said Legacy or Sum of Twenty Pounds I do hereby
direct my said Executor to pay unto the said Joseph Ray Junr by and out
of my Personal Estate hereinafter mentioned immediately upon him
attaining the age of Eighteen years But in Case the said Joseph Ray
shall happen to Die before he shall have attained his said Age of
Eighteen years Then there and in such Case I do hereby Give and Bequeath
the same said Legacy of Twenty Pounds unto my Cousin Sarah Nunn the Wife
of George Nunn of Portsmouth Common aforesaid Gentleman her Executors
and Administrators Also I give and Bequeath unto the said Sarah Nunn my
Wearing Apparell of every sort and kind whatsoever (Except one Blue silk
Gown which I do hereby particularly direct may be given up and Delivered
by the said Sarah Nunn to Mrs Ann Morley the Wife of John Morley of the
said Parish of Portsea Cordwainer immediately after my decease In Trust
and to the intent and purpose that the said Sarah Nunn do and shall so
soon after my decease and from time to time thereafter and in such parts
and proportions as she shall see Occasion and think proper give up and
deliver the same unto my Sister Ann Cox of the said Parish of Portsea
Spinster in order to ..... in keeping her my said Sister as decently
cloathed as the same shall admit of Also all the rest residue and
remainder of my real and Personall Estate of what kind and nature soever
after Payment of all my just Debts the aforesaid Bequests and ffuneral
Expences I Give and Bequeath unto my said Cousen Sarah Nunn her
Executors and Administrators But upon this special Condition nonetheless
that she my said Cousen Sarah Nunn do and shall from and immediately
after my decease Expend lay over and allow the Sum of Two Shillings a
Week unto and for the use of my said Sister Ann Cox for and during the
term of her natural Life such said Two Shillings a week to be by her the
said Sarah Nunn Expended and laid out for the Use of my said Sister in
such necessaries either in Food or Cloathes at the discretion of the
said Sarah Nunn as she my said Sister shall appear to stand most in need
Off And Lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint my said
Cousen Sarah Nunn Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament In
Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained in
this Sheet of Paper Set my Hand and Seal this twenty second Day of May
in the Year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Four
