The Will of Mary Owston

 

In the name of God Amen I Mary Owston of King Edward Street Wapping in the County of Middlesex Widow being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I direct that my body may be plainly but decently interred and subject to the payment of my debts and funeral expences I give and bequeath unto my daughter Jane Hinderwill Wife of Francis Hinderwill of King Edward Street aforesaid Pilot (with whom I now reside) all and singular my Household goods Furniture Plate Linen China Wearing apparel and also the ready money I am possessed of at the time of my death (provided that the same does not exceed the sum of Twenty pounds in which case I direct the overplus constitute part of my residuary Estate) I give and bequeath to each of my Grand Sons Richard Owston Hinderwill John Dale Hinderwill Beswick Hinderwill and Henry Hinderwill the sum of five pounds and to each of my Granddaughters Mary Jane Hinderwill and Frances Hinderwill the sum of Forty pounds But if it should happen that either or both of my said Granddaughters depart this life during my life time then the share or shares of such Granddaughter or Grandaughters so dying to be equally divded amongst and between my said Grandsons Richard Owston Hinderwill John Dale Hinderwill Beswick Hinderwill and Henry Hinderwill or such of them as shall be living at the time of my death share and share alike And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature or kind soever I give and bequeath the same unto my Son John Dale Owston and my said Daughter Jane Hinderwill their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns to be equally divided between them share and share alike for his her and their absolute use and benefit for ever But if it should happen that my said daughter depart this life during my life time then the moiety or half part or share of my said daughter to be equally divided between and amongst my said Grandsons Richard Owston Hinderwill John Dale Hinderwill Beswick Hinderwill and Henry Hinderwill or such of them as shall be living at the time of my decease And lastly I hereby appoint Jabez Allies of Tokenhouse Yard in the City of London Gentleman and James Bentley of Love Lane Eastcheap in the said City of London Ship and Insurance Broker Executors of this my Will And I declare that my said Executors shall not be answerable or accountable for involuntary loss And I do hereby authorise and empower my said Executors to reimburse themselves out of my Estate all such Costs Charges and expences which they shall or may pay expend or be put unto in the execution of this my Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this Thirteenth day of November one thousand eight hundred and sixteen Mary Owston
