The Will of Thomas Overshott

 

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Overshott of Park Corner in the parish of Cookham in the County of Berks Blacksmith being of sound Mind Memory and understanding do make Publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following  that is to say first I Give and bequeath unto my loving Wife Elizabeth and to my Daughter Elizabeth and to my two Daughters Elizabeth and Jane the Rents Issues and Profits of all that my ffreehold Messuage or Tenement Shop Outhouses Orchard Gardens and Premises thereunto belonging wherein I now dwell together with two Inclised Closes of Arable Land thereunto adjoining containing by estimation about two acres and a half (be the same more or less) situate and being at Park Corner aforesaid To have receive and take to their own use and benefit for and during the natural life of my said Wife and from and immediately after her decease I Give devise and bequeath the same Premises and every part thereof with their Appurtenances unto my said two Daughters Elizabeth and Jane to hold to their Heirs and Assigns for ever as Tenants in Common and not as Joint Tenants And it is my Will and desire that immediately after my decease my said Wife and my two Daughters do for their better Maintenance and Support Jointly carry on my Business of a Blacksmith and reside in the House wherein I now dwell and Share the Profits thereof equally between them also I give and bequeath all my Wearing Apparell of what kind soever to my Brother John Overshott of Cookham Deane in the Parish of Cookham aforesaid Labourer also I direct that all my Just debts ffuneral and Testamentary Expences be paid and satisfied by my Executrixes hereinafter named equally between them and as soon as conveniently can be after my decease and from and after payment thereof I give devise and bequeath unto my said Wife and two Daughters Elizabeth and Jane all the Rest Residue and Remainder of my estate both Real and Personal whatsoever and wheresoever which I shall die possessed of Goods Chattels Stock in Trade Money Securities for Money and all my other Effects whatsoever To hold to them their Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns equally share and share alike And lastly I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint my said Wife Elizabeth and my said two Daughters Elizabeth and Jane joint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former and other Will or Wills by me at any time heretofore made In Witness whereof I the said Thomas Overshott the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the thirtieth day of January in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Sixty Eight  _  Thomas Overshott
