The Will of Edwd Overshot of Maidenhead in the County of Berks and Diocese of Sarum

In the Name of God Amen I Edward Overshot of Maidenhead in the County of Berks Husbandman being sick and weak of body but of Sound and Pfect mind and memory Praised be Almighty God therefore do hereby Make and ordain this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)first and Principally I Commend my Soul to Almighty God my Heavenly ffather hopeing through the Merits Mediation and Intercession of my only Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain pardon and remission of all my Sins my body in hopes of a Joyfull resurrection I Commit to the Earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors herein after named and as to my Worldly Estate with which it hath pleased Almighty God to bless me withal I Give devise and bequeath the same as followes ffirstly I Give devise and bequeath unto my Nephew John Sly Son of my Sister Mary now the wife of George Helas the sume of ffive Pounds – Secondly I Give and bequeath unto my Neice Elizabeth Sly his Sister the like Sume of ffive Pounds – Thirdly I Give to my Goddaughter and Neice Mary Overshot the Daughter of my Brother John Overshot the like Sume of ffive Pounds-ffourthly I Give to my Grandmother Elizabeth Herod the Sume of fforty Shillings- ffifthly I Give to my Aunt Mary Overshot Twenty Shilings which said Legacys is to be paid the Severall Legatees as Soon as the moneys can be got in and had not Exceeding twelve months next after my decease And as to all the rest residue and remainder of Moneys Apparrell of both sorts and Psonall Estate whatsoever which I shall dye possest of or Entitled unto After my Debts Legacys aforesaid and ffunerall Expences is fully Satisfied paid and discharged I Give devise and bequeath the same to be Equally divided Share and Share alike between all my Brothers and sisters And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Loving Brother John Overshot & my Brother in Law George Helas to be joynt Executors of this my last Will and Testamt Revokeing Disannulling and making void all former Wills and Testamts by me heretofore had made and declared And do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Edward Overshot the said Testator have to this my last Will and Testament Set my hand and Seal this Thirteenth day of April in the Eleventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second over Great Britain King Defender of the faith and in the year of our Lord One Thousand seven hundred and Thirty Eight the mark of Edward Overshot Signes Sealed published and declared to be the last Will and Testamt of the said Testator in the presence of us
