The Will of Joseph Ogier

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Joseph Ogier of the Town of Portsea in the County of Southampton a Superannuated Labourer from his Majestys Dock Yard near Portsmouth in the County aforesaid made whilst in good Health and of sound perfect and disposing mind memory and understanding whereby I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God and dispose of all my worldly estate and effects both real and personal in manner following that is to say I give and bequeath unto my friend Mary Wells of Wintour Street in the Town of Portsea widow the relict of my late friend Thomas Wells sometime since of the same Town Joiner deceased the sum of fifty pounds Sterling to and for her own absolute use and benefit absolutely and to be paid to her by my executor hereinafter appointed within two Calendar months next after my decease I give devise and bequeath unto my trusted and much esteemed friend Charles Pafoot of the Town of Portsea Storekeeper in His Majestys Victualling Yard at Portsmouth aforesaid all that my freehold messuage or dwellinghouse with the yard garden and appurts thereunto belonging situate on the West of and numbered 87 at Cross Street in the said Town of Portsea now in my possession and in the occupation of Mr Spanier and all other my real estate in the said Town of Portsea or elsewhere in England to hold the same messuage and hereditaments and real estate unto and to the use of the said Charles Pafoot his heirs and assigns for ever also I give and bequeath all and Singular my capital Stock or principal money.... four per cent new annuities monies in the Savings Bank at Portsmouth aforesaid Household goods and furniture of Household plate linen books and china ready money Securities for money interest dividends and annual produce and profits pension and superannuated money sum and sums of money and all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate & effects that I am now or at the time of my decease I may be possessed of interested in or entitled unto or whereof or wherein or over which I now have or might then have any disposing right or power subject to the payment of my just debts funeral expences the costs and charges attending the probate of this my will and the said legacy unto the said Charles Pafoot his exors and administrators absolutely and to and for his and their own proper use benefit and disposal for evermore and I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Charles Pafoot Sole executor of this my will and I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other will and wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this paper writing to be and contain my last will and testament In testimony whereof I the said Joseph Ogier the testator have to this my said last will and testament contained in this and the annexed preceding paper set my hand and Seal that is to say my hand to the first sheet thereof hereunto annexed and my hand and Seal to the Second and last sheet thereof this twenty seventh day of ffebruary in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty four Jos Ogier
