The Will of Mary Oates

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Oates of ffordingbridge in the County of Southampton Widow Whereby I give and bequeath all my Wearing Apparel of every description unto my Sister Sarah Silke unto my Sister Ann Curtis and unto my Servant ffanny Dale in equal shares and proportions to be divided in the best manner my Executors may appoint I give unto my Brother William Read unto my Sister Elizabeth Tilley unto my sister Sarah Silke and unto my Sister Ann Curtis the sum of Ten Pounds sterling each I give and bequeath unto Catherine Blackford Widow and unto Hannah Wareham Widow the sum of One Pound each I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Early the Sum of Two Pounds I give and bequeath unto William Hayward Shoemaker the Sum of Two Pounds I give and bequeath unto my Servant ffanny Dale the sum of ten pounds sterling I give and bequeath Elizabeth Oates and Elizabeth ffresher both of the City of New Sarum the sum of one pound each by way of remembrance I give and bequeath unto Mary the daughter of James Chubb the sum of one Pound I give and bequeath unto the Reverend Alexander Good Minister and James Chubb Seedsman both of the Town of ffordingbridge in the said County the sum of ffive pounds sterling Upon Trust to be applied to the use and benefit of the British and fforeign School in the Town of ffordingbridge I give and bequeath unto the Reverend Alexander Good and James Chubb Seedsman the sum of Ten Pounds sterling each I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my monies and personal estates and effects whatsoever subject to the payment of all my just debts And my ffuneral and testamentary expences unto my son Robert Oates his Executors Administrators and Assigns And I will and direct that in case my said son shall happen to die before he shall have attained the age of 21 years Then I give and bequeath all my aforesaid rest residue and remainder of my monies and effects whatsoever unto and among my Brother William Read unto my Sister Elizabeth Tilley unto my Sister Sarah Silke and unto my Sister Ann Curtis share and share alike I nominate constitute and appoint the Reverend Alexander Good and James Chubb Seedsman both of the Town of ffordingbridge in the said County Executors to this my last Will and Testament And my Will is And I do declare that my said Executors shall not be answerable or accountable the one for the other or for the acts receipts neglects and defaults of the one for the other and also that they my said Executors and their respective Executors Administrators and Assigns shall and may from time to time deduct And retain out of the monies that shall come to their hands by virtue of this my Will and allow to each other all such Costs Charges and expences whatsoever as they may respectively bear pay sustain or be put unto in or about the execution of this my Will In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand and seal this sixth day of May one thousand eight hundred and thirty five Mary Oates
