The Will of William Nurden
In the Name of God Amen I WILLIAM NURDEN of the
parish of St. Leonard Shoreditch in the County of Middlesex Gentleman
being weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory ( praised
be Almighty God) Butt considering the certainty of death and uncertainty
of the time thereof doe herefore make and declare my last Will and
Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) ffirst and
principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator
hoping and assuredly believing by and through the merit of death and
passion of my only Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to obtain full
pardon and free remission of all my sins and to infinite Eternal life My
Body I committ to the Earth in hopes of a Joyfull Resurrection to be
decently buryed att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named and
as touching such temporall Estate as God of his infinite mercy hath ben
pleased to bless me with I give devise bequeath and dispose thereof in
manner following (that is to say) Imprimis I will order direct and
appoint that all such debts as I shall owe att the time of my decease
together with my funerall charges shall be fully paid and satisfied Item
I give unto my loving Wife ELIZABETH NURDEN all those my Leasehold
messuages land and premisses with their appurtenances hereunto belonging
situate in a certain place called Hive Hook Land in the parish of St.
Mary Magdalen Bermondsey in the County of Surrey with the Lease by which
I hold the same for and during the term of her natural life And from and
after her decease I give the said messuages Landd and premisses and the
lease by which I hold the same unto my Sister in law SUSANNA SMITH wife
of my brother in law THOMAS SMITH of the parish of St. John at Wapping
in the said County of Middlesex for and during the term of her natural
life or for so long time shall be to come in the said Lease after my
said Wife's decease And from and after her decease I give the same
premisses unto my Nephew JOSEPH SMITH his Executors Administrators and
assigns Item I also give unto my said loving wife ELIZABETH NURDEN and
her Assigns all those severall Leasehold Messuages or Tenements with the
appurtenances thereon to belonging and the lease by which I hold the
same situate in White Cross Street playhouse Yard and parrott Court in
the parish of St. Giles without Cripplegate in the said County of
Middlesex which said last mentioned premisses I lately purchased of
Dullage College called Gods Gift And then the rest residue and remainder
of my Estate whatsoevr or wheresoever I give devise and bequeath unto my
said loving Wife ELIZABETH NURDEN and her Assigns for ever or according
to my right and interest in the same And I make name and appoint my said
loving wife ELIZABETH NURDEN Sole Executrix of this my Will And lastly I
do hereby revoke disannull and make void all former Wills bequests and
legacies by me at any time heretofore made bequeathed or given And I do
make and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In witness
whereof I the said WILLIAM NURDEN the Testator have to each sheete of
this my Will being two in number both fairly written on and I doe sett
my hand and to this last sheete and att the top where the same are
fastened together heve sett my seal the four and twentyeth day of
Jannuary Anno Domini - 1729- WILLIAM NURDEN - signed sealed published
declared and delivered by the said WILLIAM NURDEN the Testator for and
as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who have subscribed
our names in his presence MARTHA POYNES who lives in Hoxton Square -
MARY BARRATT/ Servant to the Testator - JOHN JAMES Snr. in Artillary
Lane without Bishops Gate London.
