In the Name of God Amen I John North the Elder
of Kingston Stock in the Parish of Aston Rowant in the County of
Oxford Carpenter being at this time not in Good Health of Body but
of sound and Perfect Mind & Memory thanks be given to God do make
and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following ffirst I commend my Soul to God my Body to the Earth to be
buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor herein
after named in hopes through my Saviour Jesus Christ of a joyful
Resurrection into life Eternal and as to that estate which it hath
pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me I dispose thereof as
followeth (that is to say) ffirst of all I give devise and bequeath
unto my Son John North all that my Messuage Cottage or Tenement
wherein I now dwell situate standing and being in Kingstone Street
in the said Parish of Aston Rowant and County of Oxford and also all
and every my Closes Pieces and Parcels or Arrable Land Meadow and
Pasture Ground lying near my said Messuage Cottage or Tenement And
lying and being in Kingston Street aforesaid in the said Parish of
Aston Rowant and County of Oxford and also and every the Outhouse
Edifices Buildings Orchards Gardens Backsides Hades Baulks Ways
Easements Hedges Ditches Trees Profits Advantages Hereditaments and
all other the Appurtenances whatsoever to the said Messuage Cottage
or Tenement Arrable Land Meadow and Pasture Ground or any of them
belonging or in any wise appertaining thereunto belonging do I give
unto my Son John North To have and to hold the same and every part
for ever and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever paying and
discharging all my Debts and paying all my Legacys according to this
my last Will and Testament Item I give unto my Son Richard North
Thirty pounds of good and lawful Money of Great Britain Item I give
unto my Daughter Elizabeth Hambelton Twenty pounds the Bed and
Bedstead Coverings Blanketts and all belonging to the said Bed
whereon I now lyeth in my Chamber over the Dwelling House and the
biggest Pottage Pott Item I give to my Daughter Mary Gurney One
shilling Item I give to my Daughter Ann Weston One Shilling to be
paid in a Twelve Month after my decease out of my Personal Estate by
my Executor above named and the said John North my Son I do appoint
and ordain my full and whole Executor and I do appoint and ordain
that he do pay all my Charge of my ffuneral and Debts forthwith And
I do appoint and ordain that he do pay to Richard North his Brother
thirty Pounds and his Sister Elizabeth Hambleton Twenty Pounds and
his Sister Mary Gurney One Shilling and his Sister Ann Weston One
Shilling all these Legacys to be paid in a Twelve Months after my
decease out of my Personal estate this I ordain to be my last Will
and as for the rest of my Goods in my House besides them given to
Elizabeth Hambleton above named I say the rest of my Goods to be
equally Parted between them all and hereby revoke & make void all
former Wills and Testaments by me at any time made and do ratify and
declare this to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof the
said John North the Elder to this my last Will and Testament being
contained in one Sheet of Paper set my hand and Seal this Twenty
fifth day of September and in the Year of Our Lord God One thousand
seven hundred forty and six John North
