BE IT KNOWN, that at the
date hereunder written, the last Will and Testament
of George Herbert Newton
late of “Rosslyn” No.47
Selby Road Anerley in the County of Surrey
Gentleman, deceased, who
died on the 22nd day of March 1885
at “Rosslyn” aforesaid
was proved and registered
in the Principal Registry of the Probate Division of Her
Majesty’s High Court of Justice and that Administration of the
personal estate of the said deceased was granted by the
aforesaid Court to
Emily Newton of “Rosslyn”
aforesaid Widow the Relict and John Newton of No. 1 Clarence
Villas Parchmore Road Thornton Heath in the said county
Gentleman the Executors named in the said Will they having been
first sworn well and faithfully to administer the same.

This is the last Will and
Testament of me George Herbert Newton of “Rosslyn” No. 47
Selby Road Anerley in the County of Surrey I direct that all my
just debts and funeral and testamentary expenses be paid and
satisfied by my Executors hereinafter named as soon as
conveniently may be after my decease I give and devise and
bequeath unto my Executors twenty five pounds each and unto
my eldest son Cecil Herbert my Gold Watch and Chain and
signet ring and to my daughter Rose Elsie Ten
pounds to purchase for herself a mourning ring and as to all the
rest residue and remainder of my estate and effects whatsoever
and wheresoever both real and personal whether in possession
reversion remainder or expectancy I give devise and bequeath the
same unto Emily Newton and John Newton and their
executors and administrators Upon trust to permit and suffer my
dear Wife to have the use and enjoyment of all such parts
thereof as shall not yield income and the residue of such of my
estate as shall not have been applied in payment of my debts and
funeral testamentary expenses and legacies to remain as invested
at the time of my decease or at the absolute discretion of my
said executors and to pay the dividends and produce of all such
other parts of my estate as shall yield income unto my dear Wife
during the term of her natural life unless she marry again and
from and after her decease or in case she marry again I give
devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and
among and to be equally divided between all and every my
Children both Sons and daughters who shall be living at the time
of the decease of my said Wife or marriage and the issue of such
of them as shall be dead (such issue nevertheless taking only
the share which their deceased parent would have been entitled
to in the event of such parent surviving my said Wife) to and
for their own use and benefit absolutely And I nominate
constitute and appoint Emily Newton my dear Wife and
John Newton my Father-in-law to be Executors of this my Will
and hereby revoking all former or other Wills and Testaments by
me at any time heretofore made I declare this to be my last Will
and Testament In witness whereof I the said George Herbert
Newton have to this my last Will and Testament set my hand the
fourteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and eight five – George H. Newton – Signed
published and acknowledged by the above named George Herbert
Newton as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of
us who in his presence and in the presence of each other have
subscribed our names as Witnesses – William G. Weager 45
