In
the name of god Amen.
March 21 in the year of
our lord one thousand
seven hundred and twenty
six. I Peter Newport of
Park Hall in the
Township of Barrow and
the County of Chester
being of sound and
perfect mind and memory
but weak of body thanks
be to god for the same,
do make and ordain this
my last will and
testament in the manner
and form following: that
is to say, first, and
principally I give my
soul into the hands of
god who gave it me, and
for my body I commend it
to the earth to be
buried in a Christian
and decent manner
according to the
discretion of my
Executors hereafter
mentioned. And as
toughing my worldly
estate, wherewith it
hath pleased almighty
god to bless me in this
life I give, devise,
bequeath and dispose of
the same in manner and
form following.first and
principally my will and
mind is that all my
debts and funeral
expenses shall be paid
out of my real and
personal estate.Item I
give and bequeath to my
beloved wife Alice
Newport and her child if
it please god she have
one the five tenements
lying and being in
Purlach upon Bradford to
be equally divided
betwixt them the house
and outbuildings
likewise, and in case
the Child dies I give
the whole two tenements
to my beloved wife to
dispose of at her own
discretion and in case
she dies before the
child then my will and
mind is that whether it
be boy or girl it shall
have the two tenements
lying and being in
Purlach aforesaid. Also
I give and bequeath unto
my beloved wife all my
personal estate after
the payment of my debts
and funeral expenses
above mentioned. Item I
give and bequeath to my
beloved wife and her
child of she have one by
me and it live all my
right and title of the
two closes call by the
name of Hancocks field
and meadow to be equally
divided betwixt them as
long as the child lives,
and if the child dies
then I give and bequeath
the aforesaid two closes
called by the name of
Hancocks field and
meadow to my father
Peter Newport to dispose
of at his own discretion
till my brother Richard
Newport come to the age
of twenty one years and
then my will and mind is
that my brother Richard
Newport shall have the
two said closes called
by the name of hancocks
field and meadow. Item I
give and bequeath to my
brother in law Roger
Ellis one suit of
clothes which he pleases
and of this my last will
and testament I make and
ordain my beloved wife
Alice Newport and my
father Peter Newport
Executors. In witness
thereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal the
day and year above
