I Peter Newport of
Barrow in the County of
Chester Yeoman being of
sound mind and memory
tho weak of Body do make
this my Last Will and
Testament in manner
following. That is to
say first I do hereby
order and Direct that my
just Debts funeral
expenses and the charge
of proving this my last
will shall be paid and
discharged out of my
Personal Estate by my
Executors and Executrix
herein named. Item I
give devise and bequeath
unto my Loving Wife Jane
Newport six pounds a
year to be paid to her
quarterly by my son
Richard Newport likewise
all ye new building with
its furniture and the
Little Sellar and Little
Garden......... also to
the cloaths Hedge Little
house and Well. Likewise
I give to my wife the
Rent of ye house in ye
Hall Lane during her
natural life also the
sum of five pound in
money to be paid her in
a months time after my
death of my Personal
Estate. Item I give to
my son Richard Newport
the House in Barrow
which I purchased of my
Brother John Newport he
paying to my wife Jane
Newport the above said
sum together with other
conveniances as above
mentioned and also
paying to my daughter
Jane Sellars twenty
pound and to my daughter
Margaret Newport twenty
pound after the death of
my wife and there being
forty pound more at my
disposal according to my
son Richards marriage
contract I give the said
sum of forty pound
equally to be divided
betwixt my Daughter in
Law Elizabeth Newport
and her children. Item I
give and bequeath to my
son Richard Newport the
two small inclosures at
Longgreen and during ye
term of ye Lease. Item I
give to my son Joseph
Newport all those fields
and Meadowes called
Hancocks together with
the remainder of the
term which I shall have
in Park Hall Estate at
my decease also I give
to my son Joseph Newport
the Hall Lane house
after the death of my
wife during ye term of
ye Lease. Item I give
and bequeath unto my
daughter Margaret
Newport the sum of
eighty pound to be raisd
and paid out of my
personal Estate together
with the twenty pound to
be paid her by my son
Richard Newport as
before mentioned in all
one hundred pound. Item
I give and bequeath to
my Daughter Ann Runcorne
all the Little Barrow
house and grounds to the
life of her and her
children her husband
having no power to
intermeddle therewith. I
also give and bequeath
to my daughter Jane
Sellars over and above
her former Legacy ten
pound for ye use of her
children. Item I give
and bequeath to my son
John Newport ten pound
to be raisd of my
personal Estate if
living but if he be dead
before my decease then
my Will and mind is that
the said sum of ten
pounds shall be paid
into the hands of his
daughter Jane Newport to
and for her own proper
use.
I
also give and bequeath
unto my said
Grandaughter Jane
Newport and daughter to
John Newport a cottage
called Jenkinsons
cottage lying and being
in Barrow afores. which
said cotttage the Right
honourable ye Earl of
Barrymore put her life
in graty. Item I give
unto my Grandaughter
Elizabeth Newport
daughter to my son Peter
Newport deceased the sum
of one Guiny My further
Will and mind is that
the sum of fifty pounds
part of the sum of sixty
pounds which is secured
out at interest for my
said Grandaughter
Elizabeth Newport, if
it happen that she
shall die before she
attain to the age of
twenty one years, that
the said sum of fifty
pound shall be equally
divided amongst my
children share and share
alike and the ten pounds
the remainder of the sum
of sixty pounds I give
five pounds thereof
towards erecting a
school house in Barrow
but if the freeholders
of Barrow afores. shall
refuse to contribute or
to be at the expense of
erecting a school house
as afores. then I give
and bequeath the same to
my Grandaughter Jane
Newport and ye other
five pound residue of
the said last mentioned
sum of ten pounds
entirely to ye use of ye
poor of Barrow aforesaid
Item I give and bequeath
unto my son in law John
Runcorn the sum of two
shillings and sixpence
in full of his Legacy.
Item I give unto my son
in law James Sellers
five shillings in full
of his Legacy. Item I
give unto my son in law
William Smith one
Guiney.
And all the rest and
residue of my personal
Estate Goods and
chattels whatsoever
(except the dresser of
drawers and all the
shelves, ye Grates
together with the
bedstedes and hangings
standing in the best
room in the new building
which I give to my son
Richard Newport, and
also all the furniture
in ye new building
excepting what was
before mentioned I give
to my wife Jane Newport
to dispose of as she
shall think proper among
my children.) I give the
same to be equally
divided amongst my
children after the
payment of my debts
Legacies and funeral
expenses and of this my
last Will and Testament
I do hereby nominate and
appoint my loving Wife
Jane Newport my son
Richard Newport and John
Mason of Bridge Trafford
Executors and Executrix
revoking all former
wills by me at any time
heretofore made and
lastly I do appoint Mr
William Niddens of
Manley in the county of
Chester Gentleman
trustee hoping he will
see ye same performed
according to ye trust
hereby reposed in him
and he shall have
satisfaction for his
trouble In Witness
whereof I ye said Peter
