The Will & Inventory of Henry Newport

 

In the name of god Amen ye one and twentierth day of Aprill in the yere of our lord god 1692 wheras I Henry Newport of Barrow in ye Cowentie of Chester ......... being sike & wece in bodie bute of goode & perfecte memorie thankes be given to god therefore doe make my laste will and Testament in maner & forme following that is to say first I commit my soule unto the all mighty god my creator & unto Jesus Christ my onely Savioure & redemer trusting in ye mercy of god & by ye precious blud sheding of Jesus Christ for the absolute pardon & forgivenes of all my sines to be an Inheritor of ye kingdome of heaven and my body I commit to ye earth to be desently Buried in the Churchyard of grate Barrow at ye discrission of my Executors & frendes & for my worldly Estate which god of his mercy hath lent me I freely give and bequeath the same in manor & forme following first by this my last will & testament I doe give & asine over after my dissese unto my loving wife firmely by these presnt all and singular those cotishis or tenements with all housis edefices barnes buildings stables gardenes orchads & lake sides together with all landes meddowes leasowes & pastures woodes waters Commons of pasture & turbury & a parcell of ground in ye townffeeld comonly called Broomhill & all other  esementes & commodities to ye same cottishes or tenements belonging or in any wise appertening situate liing & being in Broomhill where of I ye sade Henry Newport stand posesed to have & to hould all & singular ye sd cotish or tenements & all buildings & landes medowes & pastures and other ye primisis with all & singular these appertenases to my sade wife mary Newport shee keeping her selfe in my name but if she should marry agane then she shall have but one hafe of my reall Estate & ye other ......... to my sonn Joseph Newport & if my sonn Joseph should hapen to die before his cum of age & be unmarryed to my sonn John newport the Executors Administrator assine in as large & ample manor to all useis profites intentes & porposis as the sayd Henry Newport might have hade or injoyed ye sayd cotishes or tenements in any wise durein ye full and & forme of ye originall leases which I ye sayd Henry newport hould by lor fully to complete & ended yelding & paying therefore & demande what so ever due to be payde for ye sayd cottishis or tenements to any manor of parson or parsones whatso ever & more over my will & mind is that my step dougtor mary fisher shall have ye bedstides I ly in & my chest & cubart & a chere with her name on after her mothers decese ........ my will & mind is that my wife shall have all ye werth of my parsonall estate to wardes her maintenance & my children so longe she kepes her in my name but if shee hapen to marre then my will & mind is that my children shall have one halfe of all my estate booth reall & parsonall equebly to be devided amonght them but my will & mind is further that if my wife do not marry agane that shee shall have power to dispos of it amonght my children as she shall think fit after my funerall charg & pamentes of debts if any hapen are pade and I doe nominate and apoint my loving wife and my loving brothern & John Brodherst my Executors for this my last will and testement performed fulfiled as I depose trust in them makeing void all former willes heretofore by me mad in witnes here of I sete my hand and sele ye day & yeure above written.
