The Will of Richard Newberry

 

Dated 3 Dec 1568, Proved 30 Jan 1568/69

 

In the name of god amen the third day of the December in the yere of our lorde god A thousand five hundreth three score and eight and the Eleventh yere of the rayne of our Soverayne Lady Elizabeth  I Richard Newborrowe of Othe fraunces in the County of Dorset England being sicke in body but of pfecte  memory thankes be unto the lyving? god do make this my present testament concerning my Last will revoking and renouncing? all other before this made by me or in my name ffirst I bequeath my soule into thande of the lyving? god my maker redeemer and my Saviour and my body to be buried in churche or churche yarde where my overseers shall thinke convenient /  Imprimus I give to Elizabeth my wife Twentie pounde by the yere to be paid yerely oute of my ferme of Othe fraunces during her naturall life / Item I give the Same Elizabeth my seconde best bed thorowhe?  furnished in all things double my two best coverletts excepted / Item my will is the said Elizabeth shall have also the use of all my householde stuffe untill ?? tyme as Walter Newborrowe my sonne shall come to the age of xxj [21] yeres and then to be delivered to my said sonne in such order as my said wife shall ?? ?? the same as newe as may be / Also my will is my said wife shall have going upon my said ferme of Othe during her widowed estate two kyen? to her owen proper use ?? ?? any thing for the same.  Item I bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth one hundred pounds to be paied at the day of her marriage so as she marry by thadvise [the advice] of Mr William Horsey Esquire my father in lawe her mother and my overseers / Item I bequeath to my daughter Katheryn one hundred pounds to be paied in manner and forme aforesaid  Item my will is that Richard and William my sonnes shall have tenne poundes by the yere borne oute of my said fferme of Othe aforsaid towards their exhibiton? untill myne heire walter Newborrowe shall come to the age of xxj yeres / Item I give my best cloke ymbrodered with velvet to my sonne walter and a Jefkyn of the same / Item I give my godsonne Michaell Laurence two ?? hogges / Item I give to Peter Hill my servant vs [5 shillings] in money over and above his wages two ?? shepe and his livery cote / Item I give the like to William Borodge my servant / Item I give to Mr willm Hoddye of Pilson for his paynes taking my best crosse bowe and my racke / Item I give my sonne walter my seconde best crosse bowe and my racke / Item I give John Bolman two mohar shepe / Item I give ?? amonge the pore of Netherbury [40 shillings] that is xs [10 shillings] to John Coxe of Brodenham xs to widow Stacy xxd [20 pence] to Russelles wife xxd to wiliam Bosshoppe of ?? and the rest to be bestowed by the good advise of my overseers / Item I give Mr Prise scolemaister of Netherbury xs in gold for his paynes towarde my children / Item I give Mr Sydwey my greatest crosse bowe and wenlesse / Item to Mr Larder my seconde bowe and wenlesse / Item I give John Herne my neighbour my handegonne being At chedyoke / Item I give yonge Mr william Hoddye my sute of apparrell now at John Bolmans that is a cloke and Jerkyn kaced with lace and a pare of hose to the same / Item to my brother Giles ?? my ?? trotting mare / Item my new rapier and Dagger I give my sonne walter / Item my englishe swoorde and Dagger to my sonne william / Item my cloke with the coller lined with ??horne ?? to my sister Harryes / Item to my sister Susan I give one silver spone and vs in money / Item to my sister Anne Simson one paire if good ?? / Item to my sister Dorothye one silver spone / Item I give Mr Thomas Howard my baye ambling nagge // Item to the Lord Thomas howard my coale blacke ambling nagge / Item to John Herne my best Saddell furnished / Item to my brother Horsey my gowne furred with lambe / Item to xrofer [Christopher] Symmes at london my gray stoned colte going at this present with my Lorde Thomas Howarde / Item I give Mss ffurent Richard ffurrents wife two silver spones for a token / Item to William ffoster two chyher shepe / Item to Nicholas Mall the like / to yonge John Hayborne forme ?? / Item to henry Durks eldest sonne two ?? shepe / Item I give my clensing myll to Mr Sydwaye / All the rest of my goods ?? moveable ?? ?? ?? I have ?? the realme of England not afore given and bequeathed I give and bequeath to Richard and william my sonnes whome I make my whole executors of this my Last Will and testament / And further know ye me the aforesaid Richard Newborrowe have ordeyned appointed my ?? and welbeloved frends to be my overseers of this my last will and testament willm Hoddye Esquier and william Horsey Esquier my father in law John Larder and Hugh Sydwey gent / Item I will that walter my sonne shall have my ?? ?? as now it is not all leades? Stoles formed next Mary not two chests that is my chest in the ?? and the blacke chest bounde Mr Yeon / Item to my cosen Lewes Horsey one silver spone / Item to walter my sonne a new satten doblet now in the hand of ffrances taylor at Byndon  / witnesses John Webbe curate Robert Peche John Milles Peter hill henry Laurence and Paule Dolinge clerke /
