The Will of John Neal

 

In the Name of God Amen I John Neal Master of his Majestys Ship Leopard being in bodily health and of sound mind and disposing mind and memory and considering the Perills and Dangers of the Seas and other uncertaintys of this Transitory life Doe for avoiding controversies after my decease make Publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) ffirst I recommend my Soul to God that gave it and my body
I commit to the Earth or Sea as it shall please God to Order and as for and considering all my worldly Estate I Give bequeath and dispose thereof as followeth (that is to say) To my Brother Thomas Neal of Brumpton in the County of Kent I give all my Wages sum and sums of money Lands Tenements Goods Chattells and Estate whatsoever as shall be in any way due owing or belonging unto me at the time of my decease I do give devise and bequeath the same unto Thomas Neal And I do hereby nominate and Appoint Thomas Neal to be Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills & Testament sand Deeds of Gift by me at any time heretofore made and I do ordain and ratify these Presents to stand and be for and as my only last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I to this my said Will I have set my hand and seal the twenty ninth day of September Anno Dom 1736 and in the Tenth Year of the reign of his Majesty King George the second over great Britain John Neal
 
Signed sealed published and declared in the presence of us John Bately Michl Doyle
 
Proved 26th February 1739/40 issued forth a Commission to Mary Neal the Relict and sole executrix of the Will of Thomas Neal deceased whilst living the brother sole Executor and Universal Legatee named in the Will of John Neal formerly master of his Majestys Ship the Leopard but afterwards Master’s Mate on board his Majestys Ship the Windsor at Jamaica deceased to Administer the Goods Chattells and Credits of the said deceased according to the tenor and Effect of the said Will being first sworn duly to administer The said Thomas Neal Surviving the said Testator but dying without having taken upon him the Execution of the said Will
