This is the last Will and Testament of me
Joseph Munt of the Parish of Cholsey in the County of Berks
Gentleman which I make publish and declare in manner following
that is to say first I direct that all my Just debts funeral and
testamentary Expences be paid by my Executors as soon as
conveniently may be after my decease I give and devise to my
dear Wife Martha All that Estate situate in the Parish of
Cholsey which I purchased of the Assignees of Thomas Palmer And
also the Cottage in Honey Lane with two Acres of Land belonging
thereto To hold to her and her Assigns for and during the term
of her natural life I also give and bequeath to my said Wife the
sum of twenty pounds for her own immediate use It is my Will and
desire that immediately on my decease my Executors hereinafter
named do take an Inventory of all my Goods ffurniture Plate
Linen ffarming Stock and Utensils of every description and do in
the first place permit and suffer my said Wife to retain such
Part of the furniture of the furniture of my house as she shall
Choose and to enjoy the same during her life and after her
decease I give and bequeath such part so retained by my said
Wife unto my Niece Margaret Ledger I give and bequeath all my
ffarming Stock and Implements of Husbandry together with such
Household ffurniture and Effects as my said Wife shall not
choose to retain as aforesaid unto my Executors hereinafter
named In trust to sell and dispose of the same for the most
money that can be obtained for the same and from and out of the
proceeds thereof shall and do in the first place pay to my said
Wife the said Legacy of twenty pounds above bequeathed to her
and also do and shall pay to my Sister Mary the sum of ten
pounds And after payment thereof I do hereby direct my said
Executors to invest of the monies arising from such Sale in the
Purchase of Stock in Government ffunds in their names upon trust
to pay the interest and dividends to arise therefrom unto my
said Wife or her Assigns as the same shall become due for and
during the term of her natural life and from and after the
decease of my said Wife upon trust that my said Executors or the
survivors or the survivor of them do and shall pay and discharge
the following legacies that is to say the sum of One hundred
pounds To my Niece Margaret Ledger the sum of twenty pounds to
my Niece Mary the daughter of my brother William Munt the sum
of twenty pounds each to my Nieces Maria and Martha daughters of
my late brother Thomas Munt the sum of twenty pounds to my
Nephew Thomas Munt the five pounds a piece to each of the
remaining seven children of my said late brother Thomas Munt the
sum of twenty pounds to my nephew John the son of my Sister Ann
Ledger the Sum of twenty pounds to my Sister Mary Munt of twenty
pounds to Joseph Munt Son of William Munt of Wallingford the sum
of ten pounds to Mary Ann the daughter of the said William Munt
and in case ffrances the Widow of my late brother Thomas shall
be living at the time of the decease of my said Wife then my
Executors shall pay to her the sum of ten pounds and also I give
the sum of ten pounds to my Sister Elizabeth It is my Wil that
the other respective legacies be considered as vested Interests
from the time of my decease provided always and it is my Will
and desire that my said Executors shall and do pay from out of
the proceeds of the said sale or from the principal monies so to
be invested unto my Sister Mary the sum of eight shillings
weekly during her natural life and I do hereby charge the said
proceeds and principal monies with such payment to her and from
and immediately after the decease of my said Niece Margaret
Ledger and her heirs the Cottage and two Acres of Land situate
at the Top of Honey Lane she and they paying the charge of
enfranchisement and as to all other my lands tenements and
hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever I hereby give and
devise the same to my Sister Elinor Langford during her life
and from and after her decease I give and devise the same to
James Langford and Joseph Munt Langford her two Sons and to
their heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless and I do
hereby charge the same with the Yearly sum of thirty two pounds
which I hereby direct to be paid by the said devisees as they
shall become respectively entitled unto my said Wife for and
during her natural life without any deduction or abatement
whatsoever I hereby direct my wearing Apparel to be sold and
disposed of together with my other effects and for the like
purposes I give and bequeath to Jane the Wife of George Rackshaw
my Eight day Clock I give the residue of my personal Estate to
my Nephew Joseph the Son of my late brother William Munt I
hereby nominate constitute and appoint George Rackshaw of Oxford
Gentleman William Munt of Wallingford my Nephew and Charles
Pocock of Cholsey Gentleman Joint Executors of this my Will I
beg my Executors acceptance of Two Guineas each for Mourning
Rings In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
this twenty sixth day of March One thousand eight hundred and
