In the Name of
God Amen the Seventeenth day of June
in the Twentieth Year of the Reign
of our Sovereign Lord George the
Second by the Grace of God King of
Great Britain and so forth and in
the Year of our Lord 1746 I John
Moulden of Wantage in the County of
Berks Ironmonger being of good sound
and perfect mind memory and
understanding (thanks be given to
God for the same) Do make this my
last Will and Testament in manner
following (that is to say) ffirst
and principally I commend my Soul
into the hands of Almighty God my
Heavenly Maker trusting and
assuredly believing through the
alone Merits Precious Death and
Passion of my Blessed Lord and
Saviour Jesus Christ to have Pardon
and Remission of my Sins and to be
eternally saved And my Body I commit
to the Earth from whence it came to
be decently buried at the discretion
of my Executrix hereinafter named
And as for such Worldly goods
Chattels and Estate as it hath
pleased Almighty God to bless me
withal I give and dispose the same
in manner following (that is to say)
ffirst of all I give and devise All
that my Messuage or Tenement situate
and being in Wantage aforesaid
wherein I now dwell and also all
other my Messuages Lands Tenements
Hereditaments and ffreehold Estate
whatsoever and wheresoever as well
in Possession Reversion or Remainder
unto my beloved Daughter Martha
Moulden and her Assigns To hold unto
my said Daughter Martha Moulden and
her Assigns for and during the term
of her natural life And from and
immediately after the decease of my
said Daughter Martha Moulden I give
and devise the said Messuage or
Tenement wherein I now dwell in
Wantage aforesaid and all other my
said Messuages Lands Tenements
Hereditaments and ffreehold Estate
and Estates whatsoever and
wheresoever unto my son John Moulden
his Heirs and Assigns for ever And I
give and bequeath unto my Daughter
Ann Margrave one Shilling and no
more and all my Plate ready Money
Money at Interest And all the rest
residue and remainder of my Goods
Chattels and Personal estate
whatsoever and wheresoever (after my
Debts Legacies and funeral Expences
are first paid and satisfied) I give
and bequeath unto my said Daughter
Martha Moulden and I make my said
Daughter Martha Moulden Sole
Executrix to this my last Will and
Testament hereby revokeing all
former and other Wills by me at any
time heretofore made And I do
declare this Paper Writing to be my
last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof I the said John Moulden the
Testator have hereunto set my hand
and Seal the day and year first

John Moulton late of Wantage on the
County of Berks but in the ffleet
Prison London deceased was granted
to Elizabeth Griffyth Widow the
Principal Creditor of the said
deceased (Martha Moulden Spinster
having renounced the Execution
thereof)
