The Will of Joseph Moor

 

In the name of God Amen. I Joseph Moor of Eals in the Parish of Knarsdale and County of Northumberland, Yeoman being Old, infirm in a weakly state of Body, but of sound mind, memory and understanding do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say) First I hereby order and direct my Executors here in after named and appointed pay all my just debts and funeral expenses. As soon as may be after my decease I give, devise and bequeath unto Thomas Moor of Softley in the Parish aforesaid the sum of Thirty pound. I give, devise and bequeath unto my grandson Jacob Moor son of Thomas Moor aforesaid the sum of Six Hundred Pounds to have the interest for his Education and support until he arrive at the age of twenty one years and then to have the whole sum. But if he should die before he arrive at the age of Twenty One without lawfully issue of his body lawfully begotten then (but in that care only) his fore mentioned legacy to be equally divided among the children of my daughter Ann Bell. All the Residue of my effects whatsoever furniture, stock, crop, money and securities for money to me belonging I give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Ann Bell wife of John Bell of Stonehouse in the Parish of Haltwhistle and County aforesaid. Lastly I do hereby Nominate, constitute and appoint John Bell of Stonehouse aforesaid Thomas of Softley aforesaid and Henry Gill of Williamstone, joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void all former will or wills by me at anytime heretofore made and satisfying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament. (My Executors to receive all reasonable expenses) In witness where of I have to this my last Will and Testament contained on one sheet of paper set and subscribed my hand and seal in the presence of two witnesses who in my presence at my request and in the presence of each other have set and subscribed their names this Thirteenth day of May One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Five.

The Twenty Ninth day of October 1825 John Parker one of the subscribing witnesses of this will was sworn to the due execution there of by the Testator and John Bell, Thomas Moor and Henry Gill the Executors their names were sworn to execute and perform the same as usual Before me.
