The Will of Caroline Michelmore

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Caroline Michelmore of Bedford Place in the Parish of Carisbrooke in the Isle of Wight Widow ffirst I direct that all my just debts and funeral and testamentary expences be paid by my executors hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath unto Rebecca Warder of Yarmouth in the Isle of Wight aforesaid Spinster the sum of one hundred pounds sterling which I hereby direct shall be paid to her by my executors within three months after my decease free of legacy duty and subject to such legacy I give and bequeath all and singular my household goods and furniture plate linen and china ready money and securities for money and all other my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever except my silver watch unto Edward Michelmore of No 9 Drake Street Red Lion Square London Cordwainer and George Edward Browne of No 37 Hanover Street Portsea Grocer upon trust that they the said Edward Michelmore and George Edward Browne or the survivor of them his executors administrators and assigns do and shall with all convenient speed after my decease sell and dispose of and convert into ready money so much part of my personal estate as shall not at the time of my decease consist of ready money and receive recover and get in all such debts and sums of money as shall be due and owing to me at the time of my decease from any person or persons whomsoever and do and shall lay out and invest in their or his name or names the monies to arise by such sale or conversion or which shall come to their or his hands under the trusts of this my will on Government or real securities at interest and shall and do from time to time as they or he shall think proper vary alter and transpose the same and shall and do pay and apply the interest and dividends arising therefrom for and towards the maintenance support and education of my two children Walter and Mildred until they shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years and when and as soon as my said children shall attain their respective ages of twenty one years then upon trust to pay assign or transfer the said trust monies stocks funds and securities unto and equally between my said two children share and share alike Provided always and my will is that in the event of either of my said children dying under the age of twenty one years without leaving any issue then I direct that the share of him or her so dying shall go to the survivor of them and that in the event of both said children dying under the age of twenty one years without leaving Issue then I hereby give and bequeath the said trust monies stocks funds and securities unto my dear mother Esther Browne for her own use and benefit absolutely but that in the event of the death of my said mother during the minority of my said children then I do hereby give and bequeath the sum of fifty pounds part of the said trust monies stocks funds and securities unto Mildred the wife of the said Edward Michelmore to and for her own use and benefit absolutely free from the control debts or engagements of her present or any future husband and as to all the residue of the said trust monies stocks funds and securities in the event of both said children dying under the age of twenty one years without issue and the death of my said dear mother I do hereby give and bequeath one moiety or equal half part thereof unto my brother the said George Edward Browne if then living if dead then such moiety and the remaining moiety or equal half part thereof unto my brother James Augustus Browne his executors administrators and assigns absolutely I give and bequeath unto the said Edward Michelmore and my will is and I hereby declare that neither of my trustees shall be answerable for the other of them nor for the acts deeds neglects or defaults of the other of them but each of them only for his own acts deeds neglects or defaults and also that it shall be lawful to and for them my said trustees and their respective heirs executors and administrators by and out of any monies which shall come to their hands respectively be virtue of this my will to deduct retain to and reimburse themselves respectively all such costs charges and expences as they shall respectively pay bear sustain expend or be put unto for or by reason or means of the trusts hereby in them reposed or the management or execution thereof or any act transaction matter or thing whatsoever in any wise relating thereto And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said Edward Michelmore and George Edward Browne Executors of this my will and hereby revoking all former and other wills by me at any time made do declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this seventh day of July one thousand eight hundred and forty seven _ Caroline Michelmore
