In the Name of God Amen I Joseph Merrick
of the Parish of Stanwell in the County of Middlesex ffarmer
being of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my
last will and testament in manner and form as follows ffirst I
give to my Wife Elizabeth Merrick the sum of Sixty Pounds Pr
Year during her natural life to be paid out of the Interest of
the four percents but if there is not a sufficiency then the
money to be made up out of my Stock at Stanwell Moor that is
between myself and my two Sons Joseph Merrick and John Merrick
after being valued to my two Sons Joseph Merrick and John
Merrick further My desire is that my Wife Elizabeth Merrick
should have what part of the furniture she should choose the
remainder to be valued To my two Sons Joseph Merrick and John
Merrick if they think proper to have them if not to be sold and
the money with the money arising from my part of the Stock of
every kind of every kind and description with all debts and
securities whatever now due to me from any person or persons and
after the same received and to pay all my just debts and funeral
Expences and legacies Then the remainder of the money to be
equally divided between my five children Joseph Meyrick Thomas
Meyrick Elizabeth Howard Mary Slocock and John Merrick but for
Thomas Merrick and Elizabeth Howard to have four hundred pounds
less than the other three namely Joseph Merrick Mary Slocock and
John Merrick So much having been given to them before to Thomas
Merrick and Elizabeth Howard and the money arising from the four
percents after the death of Elizabeth Merrick my Wife to be
divided my five children Joseph Meyrick Thomas Meyrick Elizabeth
Howard Mary Slocock and John Merrick equally share and share
alike and for Elizabeth Howard and Geirge Howard her husband to
have the Interest of the said Money for their lives and after
their deaths to be equally divided between their children and
for Mary Slocock to have the Interest of the said Money after
the death of her mother and her children to have the Principle
equally divided between them between them after the death of the
said Mary Slocock their Mother and further I give to my three
sons the three cottages situated at Stanwell Moor in the County
of Middlesex to my son Joseph the cottage in the East and Thomas
to have the cottage west end and John to have the middle cottage
and their .... to go at length of the Orchard Joseph and John
Merrick to have the way in at the yard the same as Thomas
Merrick And I further desire that Joseph Thomas and John
Merricks do pay their mother the sum of ten pounds between them
out of the Cottages yearly and every year during her natural
life And I give to Joseph Merrick & Jon Merrick All the beasts
and the Manure that belong to my part of the time situated at
Stanwell Moor in the County of Middlesex my further desire is
that the Stock of the farms situated at Stanwell Moor to be
valued within six months after or as soon as my two Sons or
Executors think proper and the legacies to be paid within six
months After the valuation and further I give to Elizabeth
Howard and Mary Slocock the Sum of two hundred pounds to each of
them and for the money to be brought in after the first Year of
my decease and for them to receive the Interest of the said two
hundred pounds each o be brought in with the rest of their money
Lastly I leave my wife Elizabeth Merrick Executrix with my two
Sons Joseph and Thomas Merricks Executors to this my last Will
and their expences to be paid out Joseph Merrick April 2 1828
