In the Name of God Amen I Giles Meredith of
the Parish of Lanellen in the County of Monmouth Esq being of sound
and Perfect mind and memory do make my last Will and Testament in
manner following ffirst I Commend my Soul to God who gave it hoping
in and through the meritts of my Blessed Saviour Jesus Christ to
Obtain the Pardon of all my Sins And my body to the Earth to be
decently interred when God in his Mercy shall take me to himself And
touching such Estate which it hath pleased God to bless me with I
give and dispose of the same as follows I give and bequeath unto my
Dear Wife Johan Meredith the half years rent that shall be due to me
at my death for all my Lands and Tenements wheresoever Also I give
her all my household Goods now in my dwelling house in Llanellen
aforesaid for and during the terme of her natural life and after her
decease I do Order my Extor herein after named to sell and dispose
of the same to make good any Deficiency that shall happen to be in
the several Portions of my three youngest Daughters Catherine Cicely
and Anne Mereedith which I Order and declare shall be in the whole
six hundred and ffifty pounds apeice And be paid them at their
several days of Age or Marriage And if there shall be no Deficiency
therein then I Order that the money arising by the Sale of the said
Goods shall be Applyed to enable my Son Giles Meredith to Pay my
debts Also I give to my said Son my best horse my Watch and all my
Books and Whereas in the Marriage Settlement between my Wife and me
there is a term of two hundred years limited for the raising of
Eight hundred Pounds for a Provivion for such Younger Children as We
should have I do hereby give the said Eight hundred Pounds in manner
following ffirst ffive Shillings Part thereof to my Daughter Mary
the Wife of John Watkins Gentleman I having given her already a
Marriage Portion And the remainder to my said Daughters Catherine
Cicely and Anne equally to be divided between them And I give my
said three Daughters Catherine Cicely and Anne twenty four \pounds
apeice for their maintenance during my Wifes life and at her death
the whole Interest and I desire my good ffriends Eward Kennys Esqr
and Robert Hughes Esqr to be guardians to my said Son Giles Meredith
during his Minority and to bring him up in some honest Employment
And I do hereby appoint my good friend Robert Coigne Gentleman
Executor in Trust of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking
all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have to this my
last Will and Testament set my hand and Seal and Published the same
