In the name of God amen the eighteenth day of
June one thousand seven hundred & twenty four I Thomas Meadow of
Aughton in the County of Lancaster Yeoman being of sound mind &
Memory tho in a declining state of health do for the better setling
my worldy affairs & for the avoiding suits and controversys which
might otherways arise after my decease make This my last Will &
testament hereby revoking all other wills testaments or legal
bequests by me at any time heretofore made in manner & form as
follows
Imprimus I recommend my soul to the good Providence of Alm: God
hoping for favour in his sight thro the intercession of our blessed
Savior Jesus Christ and my Body to decent Christian Burial at the
discretion of my Execrs herafter named and as for my worldly Goods
and Possessions I dispose of the same as follows
First I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Margarett one Room in
the house where I now dwell either the Parlour or any one Room
upstairs as she thinks meet together with one Table four chairs one
bedstead a feather bed & bolster one Pillow two pillow bears? one
Rug two pair of sheets two blanketts all which she shall choose out
of the whole
Item I give unto her the sd Margarett the sum of five pounds to be
paid unto her within one month after my deacease
next I order that all my debts funeral expenses charge of the
probate herof & other reasonable expenses shall be paid out of my
Goods chattles & personal Estate as far as the same will extend and
if they fall short of paying the sd Debts and funeral expenses then
I demise my two Tenements with their appurtenances Called high house
& the lower lane house als Bucks house in Aughton aforsd to my
Executors herafter namd to be held by them untill such time as they
my sd Execrs have fully daid & discharged all such debts as shall
remain unpaid after disposal of my sd Personal and when all such
Debts are fully discharged then I order my sd Execrs to continue in
the possession of the sd two Estates until such time as they have
raised & paid the following Leg. that is to say first I give unto
my son John Meadow of Liverpoole the sum of twenty pounds of carreal
money and to his daugther Jane the sum of fifteen pounds payable on
the of marriage or when she attains to the age of 21years
Item I give unto my stepson John Denton of Eccleston in the County
aforsd or to his children in case of death before the legacy be due
the sum of five pounds
Item I give unto Jo[hn] Johnson of Maghull in the sd County hooper
or to his Children in like case of his de[ease] before the legacy
becomes due the sum of thirty five pounds
Item I give unto my son in Law Richard Fairclough the sum of two
shillings and sixpence all which sd Legacys I do herby empower my sd
Executors to take & receive out of the profitts of my Real Estate
immediately after the payment of my Debts
Item I demise & bequeath unto my Executors herafter namd the yearly
sum of six pounds p. annum to be raised yearly out of my two estates
aforsd for and during the life of my daughter Mary and after her
decease five pounds to be raised also during the life of my grandson
Robert son of the sd Richard Fairclough and of my sd daughter Mary
in trust nevertheless & in special confidence that they my sd
Executors shall pay the aforsd sum of six pounds to my Daughter Mary
for her own special use and behoof for and during the term of her
natural Life in manner as follows that is to say the sum of thirty
shillings at & upon every twenty fifth day of March and thirty
shillings every twenty fourth day of June and thirty shillings every
twenty ninth day of September & thirty shillings every twenty sixth
day of December intending the sd yearly payment of six pounds to be
for the support and maintenance of my sd Daughter Mary & I do herby
difenable her my sd daughter from any ways alienating the sd annuity
from the use I intend it for and after the decease of my said
Daughter Mary then I herby order my sd Executors to pay the sd sum
of five pounds which is to be raised of of my sd Estates after my
Daugter Marys death during the life of my sd grandson Robert yearly
& every year unto my sd grandson Robert for and during the term of
his natural Life to be pd unto him the sd Robert or to his ? yearly
& every year on the twenty ninth of September & the twenty fifth of
March by equal portions
Lastly I do herby nominate constitute & appoint my beloved wife
Margrett my son Roger Meadow & my loving friend Christopher Ince of
Ince Makerfield in the sd County Executors of this my last will &
Testament hoping they will truly discharge the trust I have reposed
in them In witness wherof I have herunto set my hand & seal &
published & declared this to be my last will & Testament being two
sheets of papers writt on one side only the day and year first above
written and further do herby give demise & bequeath all my right and
Title interest & property in my sd two Estates of high Lane & lower
house als Bucks house aforsd unto my sd son Roger & his heirs to be
held by him & his heirs during the term in the original Leases
chargeable nevertheless as aforsd & do likewise give unto him my sd
son Roger all the remainder of my goods & chattles if any such be
after the payment of my debts and do herby declare this last clause
to be paid out of my will tho omitted in its due place In witness
wherof I have herto my hand & seal sett the day abovewritten
