The Will of Roger Meadow

 

In the Name of God Amen I Roger Meadow of Aughton in the County of Lancaster Yeoman do make and declare this to be my last will and Testament in manner following
And being heartily Sorry for my Sins Desiring forgiveness for the same I Comitt my Soul to Almighty God trusting through the meritts of Jesus Christ to be Saved and my body to be buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named
First it is my will and mind that all my just debts funerall Expenses and the probate of this my last will be paid and Satisfied
Then I give and bequeath unto Thomas Meadow my son now aged four months All my two Estates Situate lying and being in Aughton and Commonly Called or known by the name or names of the higher Lane house and Elsbrooks house and the ground and all other the perquicets thereunto belonging or otherwise appertaining Charged and Chargeable Nevertheless with the full and Just Sum of one hundred and twenty pounds to be paid into the hands of my Executors or elsewhere for the best interest that Can or may be had for the Same towards the bringing up of my three Daughters (to witt Ann Meadow aged Eight years Margaret Meadow Aged five years Ellin Meadow Aged three years and at their Attaining their Age of twenty one years to receive and take their proportionable share of the said Sum and give general release for the same
And Lastly I do hereby declare that if it shall happen that Alice Meadow now my present wife shall marry or otherwise  miscarry before any of my Children attain the Age of twenty one years then and in such Case I do give and allow to her only the Sum of twenty Shillings and no more
And if any of my daughters should happen to dye before their Age of twenty one years then their share to be paid to Thomas Meadow my son. And if he the said Thomas Meadow should dye without Issue male or female lawfully begotten then I give all my Estates and goods whatsoever amongst my Daughters
And [I] do nominate & appoint James Watkinson of Altcar in the said County Yeoman and my loving wife Executors of this my last will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this thirteenth day of March 1735
