In the Name of God Amen I Elizabeth Meadow of
Biccarstaffe in county of Lancaster Widow do make and publish this
my last Will and Testament in manner following.
First I order and direct that all my Goods and personall estate be
forthwith sold after my Death and the moneys arising by Sale thereof
I order my Executors thereout to pay my Debts and funeral Expences
and the probate of this my Will.
And the overplus if any I direct them to place the same out at
Interest in their names and So to be kept at Interest untill my
youngest son Roger Meadow attains his age of Twenty one years And
when my son Roger Meadow Attains his said Age of twenty one years I
give and order the same to be Equally divided amongst my four
children Thomas Meadow Roger Meadow Mary Wife of John Gobbin of
Scarisbrick and Elizabeth Wife of Thomas Shaw of Ormskirk Share and
Share alike But if any of my said children shall happen to die
before my said son Roger Attain his Age of Twenty one years not
leaveing any child or children then it is my Will and mind that such
child's Share so dyeing as aforesaid shall go and be divided Equally
amongst the SurvivorsI give my Leasehold Cottage and Estate in
Biccarstaffe aforesaid which I hold by Lease under the Earl of Derby
unto my Executors hereafter named their Executors Adminstrators and
Assigns for and during all my Estate and Interest therein In Trust
nevertheless that after my Death they Sell and Lett the same for the
highest Rent they can untill such time as my son Roger attains his
said Age of twenty one years and the clear rent thereof I order and
direct them to putt out to Interest And after my son Roger attains
his said Age of twenty one years I then order and direct my said
Executors to Sell and Dispose of the Said Cottage and premises for
the best price they can get for the Same And the money raised by the
sale thereof together also with the rents before that time by them
received I order and direct them to pay the Same unto my said
children Thomas, Roger, Mary Gobbin, and Elizabeth Shaw equally
amongst them Share and Share alike. But if my said son Thomas be
desirous to purchase the Same I direct and desire he may have the
preference
And in the distribution of my Effects in manner as before is
directed I order that the sum of fourteen pounds by me already given
and paid to my Daughter Mary Gobbin shall be deemed and reckoned as
part of her Share of any Said Legacies to her so given as aforesaid
And that the Sume of Six pounds by me also given to my Daughter
Elizabeth Shaw shall also be deemed reckoned and Accounted as part
of her share of my said Legacies So given to her as aforesaidI order
and Desire my Executors to putt my son Roger Apprentice to my Son in
Law Thomas Shaw if he thinks fitt to take him and to give With him
five pounds part of his distributory Effects and Legacies
I give my best gown to my Daughter Mary Gobbin and my best cloak to
my Daughter Elizabeth Shaw And the rest of my Wearing Apparel to be
Equally divided between my said Daughters Share and Share alike
And Lastly I nominate and Appoint my son in Law John Gobbin and
William Culshaw of Biccarstaff aforesaid yeoman Executors of this my
last Will In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seal
this twenty ninth Day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand
seven hundred and forty three
