The Will of Jane Meadow

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Jane Meadow of Lathom in the County of Lancaster Widow made whilst I am of sound disposing mind memory and understandingFirst I direct all my just debts funeral expenses and the charges of the probate of this my Will to be paid and satisfied I give and bequeath all my household goods and furniture cloathing and wearing apparel linen and china of every kind and description unto my Daughter Ellen Meadow absolutely for ever
And I give the following legacies that is to say I give and bequeath unto my Grand-daughter Alice Cornwall the sum of Thirty Pounds unto my Grandson Peter Ashcroft  the sum of Thirty Pounds unto my Grandson William Ashcroft the sum of Thirty Pounds and unto my Grandson William Ashcroft the sum of Thirty pounds unto my Grandson Thomas Threlfall the sum of Thirty Pounds unto my Granddaughter Rachael Lowe the sum of Thirty Pounds and unto my Granddaughter Jane Lowe the sum of Thirty Pounds
And as to the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate and effects whatsoever I give and bequeath the same unto and to be equally divided between my son Henry Meadow and my said Daughter Elle share and share alike And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Henry and son in Law John Meadow Executors of this my last Will and And I declare and direct that the said Henry Meadow and John Meadow or the survivor of them or the Heirs, Executors Administrators or Assigns of such survivor shall each be charged and chargeable only for such monies as they shall respectively actually receive by virtue of this my Will and that one of them shall not be answerable or accountable for the other or others of them but each of them for his own acts, deeds, receipts, neglects or defaults only  And that they or any of them shall not be answerable or accountable for any loss or damage, which may happen to my estate and effects except the same shall happen by or through his or their wilful default or neglect And also that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said Executors and their respective Heirs Executors and Administrators and each of them in the first place, by and out of any monies which shall come to their respective hands by virtue of this my Will to deduct and reimbuse theselves respectively and also to allow to each other all such loss costs charges and expences as they or either of them shall or may at any time or times pay sustain expend or be put unto for or by reason of the trusts hereby in them reposed or in any wise realting thereto And revoking all former wills by me made I declare this to be my last Will and Testament In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of March in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
